Chapter 14: Officially Done
When Megan said she didn't think she could be with Colin anymore I didn't really know what to think. Also, I had no idea why she was coming to me about it.
"Why not?" I asked while sitting next to her on the couch. She was silent for a moment then she said, "We just..lost it." She said shrugging her shoulders. I had no idea what she meant by this.
"What do you mean you just lost it?" I asked. "We lost..love. I don't even think it was ever really there in the first place. I mean, sure we've had a pretty long relationship, but I don't think it was real love and it's probally best if we just took a break for a while. And, I feel like I'm putting more effort into our relationship than he is." she confessed to me.
I stil didn't really know what to say about it all. "So...what are you gonna do?" I asked without thinking. She paused for a moment before speaking again. "I think I'm gonna break up with him." I widened my eyes at this and she continued.
"But Chelsea, I want you to be there when I do it." she said. My mouth dropped as soon as she said it. I shook my head. "I'm sorry Megan, but nooo way." I said while still slightly shaking my head, still astounded that she just asked me that.
"Please Chelsea! I really need you there." she said. She had a really determined look on her face and I knew she wouldn't take no for an answer. I finally sighed and said, "fine, but don't bring me into it at all. Don't even mention my name." I said trying to give her as much as a serious look as I could.
She jumped off the couch. "Alrght lets go!" she said while straightening out her skirt. "What? You're going right now?" I asked surprised. She nodded her head quickley and grabbed my arm and started pulling me towards the door.
I tried resisting, but she was a lot stronger than she looked. She finally got me out of the door and we were already on her way to her and Colin's door. I managed to stop and she turned around.
"Are you sure you want to do this, Megan?" I asked still not wanting to be in there when all of this would take place. She only nodded her head again and gave me a somewhat assuring smile then she opened the door to reveal Colin on the couch watching tv.
She cleared her throat to get Colin's attention. He looked over at us. Megan still had her arm wrapped around mine and I couldn't move. Right now I really just wanted to curl up in the corner and be unseen, but Megan wouldn't budge.
"Colin," she started. "I-I think that we need to take a..break." she said sounding much less bold than she did in my house, but still confident with her words. Colin sat up and turned down the tv.
"What do you mean 'a break'?" he asked. I could sense that this conversation would be long. Megan finally let go of my arm and I went to sit on the stool that was off to the side by the tv.
"I don't think that this relationship is really working anymore..I don't think that either one of us is really into it anymore." she said. Colin didn't say anything and only nodded. "I feel like I'm putting more into this relationship than you are and I don't really want to do that anymore." she said.
He nodded again and said, "I don't think this relationship is working either, but for different reasons." "What are your reasons?" Megan asked. "Well, there's..someone else." he said. When he said this I felt my heart sink a little.
"So you're..cheating on me?" Megan asked putting her hands on her hips. Colin shook his head. "No, I'm not cheating on you, there's just another girl that I have feelings for." he explained. "Why didn't you tell me before?" Megan asked. "I didn't want to hurt you." Colin told her.
"Well, you can tell me now." she said in response. Colin was silent for a second then went on. "Ok. Well, she's beautiful. And kind. And she likes pretty much all the same things I like. She's perfect. I think you'd really like her too." he said smiling.
