The people were buzzing around me. We knew the invasion was going to happen but we had no clue when. All the Internet was shut off for safety purposes.
Walking through the tunnel inside the HSTS was loud. There were ear piercing screams from all directions. Mothers crying for their children and children crying for their mothers. I wish my mom was here. To hold me and tell me it's all right. I may be 17 but no matter how old you get you'll always need your mom.
I was walking pretty slow I guess because some guy bumped into me. I wasn't even done turning around when he started yelling at me. He was tall and muscular. My eyes slid up to his face. His shaggy blonde hair brushing right at his eyes. When his dark, thoughtful eyes came down to me he stopped yelling. Just stained in awe. And I just stared back.
As soon as I saw his eyes I recognized him. Jason, my childhood best friend. The one who would bounce on a trampoline with me. Suffer through my doll games just like I did his galaxy war games. A sudden softness and to his hard face. We hadn't talked for two years since we'd grown apart. I wanted to hug him as tightly as I could.
"Cindy" Jason mutters and then grabs my shoulders and turned me around. My heart sank a little bit. His hands stayed on me though. He marched me through the crowed.
Once we got near the front I wanted to be at the back. With all the chaos happening down here one of the pipes holding all the gasses that's turned us into those monsters had broken. The fumes of the bacteria welled out I started to gasp but stopped myself. It wouldn't help to catch the deseise would it. I sucked in a little breath and closed my mouth. I held my breath for as long as I could.
Jason and I charged through the horde of people as fast as we could. Jason pushes me through a small hole in the side of the wall and blackness swallowed me up. I heaved myself off the ground and looked around. The only source of light was a slight shimmer going down what looked like stairs. I heard Jason thumb into the hole with me.
"Hurry up, before the rest find out where we've gone or we'll be trampled."
I spun around and started carefully heading up the stairs. As I walked the light seemed to stay away from us. I kept walking when my head hit something hard. Rubbing my head, I looked up and there was a metal door. I could see beams of light fighting through the cracks on the side.
I pushed on the door but, it wouldn't budge. I rubbed my hands all around but I couldn't find a handle.
"There's no way out" I remarked.
"Let me try"
Jason pushed past me and and felt the door again. He gave me a 'I found something' look. I felt for his hand and found a little bump. I felt around it and there was a little line indented into the bump. Key. We didn't have a key. There was no way we could get out this way not unless we could find a key or busy it open.
Then an idea came to my mind.
