No one really knows when the scarecrow was made or staked down. it's always been there watching, waiting. There was a story that the pagans made it to appease the goddess Dana. She is the goddess of poetry, smithing, medicine, arts and crafts, cattle and other livestock, sacred wells, serpents (in Scotland) and the arrival of early spring. Then one day they accidently killed one of her special animals and cursed the scarecrow, no one knows what the curse is for it is lost to time. All anyone can remember is the saying "Beidh an harvester mo díoltas ar tú".
