Wait For Me

I dreamt of my childhood bestfriend last night. He was standing there, in the light. He was calling out to me, calling out for help. Where was I when he needed me?

He was always the one who made things possible for me. He helped me in every possible manner, but when I am the one who's suppose to help him, I wasn't there for him or for the whole clan.

I walked slowly, it feels like I was dragging my own feet. The sun was hot on my back but I didn't care.

There it is. I spotted Pairo's grave amidst other graves. It was already covered in moss and tall grass surrounds it. I went there, uprooted the grasses and cleaned his grave.

"Hi there Pairo!", I greeted his tombstone and I sat in front of him.

"The outside world is fun Pairo, I've met new friends. They're not with me right now, but when I get the chance, I'll introduce them to you. They're really nice. But, its cruel. Why did you have to die? Why did I have to survive? I know I'm being selfish here but I hope I also died", I murmured, tears flowing down my pale face.

"You're with everyone right now, right? Why did I have to be left alone? I miss you guys. I miss the elder, my parents, I miss you Pairo. Can you say hello to everyone for me?", I continued, my lips trembling.

"Pairo, the journey was fun. There, I answered your question. It was hard and full of challenges but it was fun! I just hope you can have fun with me. But, I guess what's not to be is not to be. We can never turn back time. It's simply impossible", I said and a raindrop fell to Pairo's tombstone, followed by another, and then another, until I was completely soaked in rain.

I shivered slightly but didn't move a muscle. "Pairo, I'm sorry! I was powerless! I wasn't able to protect you the way you protected me, I'm sorry Pairo! I hope you're happy wherever you are now. Don't get bored there, okay? I'm joining you one day", I said, my tears falling, as if synchronizing with the pouring rain.

I stood up and smiled at the grave. "Please be patient and wait for me", I said and at that moment, I felt like an old wound had been reopened.

"Until then...Good-bye", I mumbled as I walked away, my heart shattered into thousand pieces.
