Tris's Pov

Things have started to dwindle. My daily bullies turned into strangers, who don't speak to me (Peter and his friends excluded.) Marlene, Will, and
Uriah have started sitting with me and Four during lunch, but I can still sense the tension between everyone. Shauna, Christina, Lynn, and Zeke have slowly stopped their daily remarks on me, but have made no more effort to do anything more than that.

With it being December, the walk to school is unbearably cold, and the snow on the ground makes my ten minute walk become fifteen. Of course, my peaceful walk can never be peaceful enough.

"Hey Tris!" I mentally groan at Uriah's cheery tone.

"Hi, Uriah."

"Why so glum? It's holiday season!"

"I'm always like this. Only you would be this excited for Christmas Uriah, only you." I say chuckling a bit.

"Of course I am, there's presents, everyone is happy, and most importantly there's so much food!" I start actually laughing, finding everything Uriah is saying amusing.

"On a different note, you and Marlene huh?" I joke

"Oh shut up," he spits back, slightly embarrassed.

When we finally get to school, I tell him I'd see him later and we part ways. Since there's still half an hour left before first period, I decide to walk around because my arm is still bothering me.

"Hey Tris," I turn around, and see Tobias walking up to me.

"Why does someone always have to ruin my fifteen minutes to myself?" I say slightly shoving Tobias in the chest.

"Woah, woah, woah. What made you so grumpy today?"

"Uriah interrupted my walk this morning. And now you just did too," I reply in a joking manner.

"Hey, at least you like my company," Tobias says lightheartedly.

"That's true. Walk with me home? I think I like your company enough to deal with you for fifteen minutes."

"I'm not that bad," he says shoving me back.

"Well, I have to get to class. I'll see you later."

Tobias's Pov

Things have become awkward between Zeke and I, considering everything that's happened between us. It sucks to have a friendship so strong turn out like this.

"Hey man."

"Hey Zeke."

"Are you free to hang out? There's some things I need to say."

"I can't, I'm going to be with Tris. We can go somewhere tomorrow, if you want."

"That's fine, I'll see you tomorrow then," Zeke replies.

When I go to meet Tris at her locker, I see her talking to Uriah.

"Alright, Uriah. I'll see you tomorrow."

Once Tris gets everything she needs from her locker, we start walking to her house. Even before we get outside, we feel the coldness that immediately causes us to shiver.
