Chapter 5

With Vanitas at your side, you walked forward while Vanitas glanced to his side. You both walked as quietly as possible, you were sure you there were’t as much zombies around since you got rid of them, but you were’t sure that there might be at least one left behind.

The noise increased as you came closer but the noise then changed to growling. Soon enough you both were facing a zombie who was clawing at a car. At first you were puzzled since zombies don’t do this type of thing unless there’s something that has caught his attention. It was then that you heard some sobbing and glancing at the inside of the car, you did not find the source of the sobbing until you glanced under the car.

For a second you glanced at Vanitas and you pointed under the car. There was a kid under the car from you could tell. It wasn’t quite visible but the small form was enough evidence at you prove that it was a child. Vanitas nodded back and his hold on the machete beame tighter. You in the other hand straightened and walked forward leaving a puzzled Vanitas behind. As you walked forward, the zombie turned its head and even if it didn’t have eyes to see you, it knew your location.

It growled as it stumbled its way to you, but you only swung your machete to the side and it struck the zombie just on the side of its head, in a moment it slid to the ground without moving. Once you removed the machete from the zombie’s head, you cleaned it on the zombie’s clothing and put it away. The sobbing continued and they became louder, you guessed it was because of the noise you’ve made. You then kneeled and placed your hands on the ground to look behind the car.

“Hey, there are you alright?” you asked the kid.The sobbing stopped and slowly, uncovered the head and you noticed that it was a girl. Her big green eyes widened at your sight and she nodded.”Good, it’s safe to come out now.” You offered your hand to her and without hesitation she grabbed it.

As soon as she was out, she launched forward and latched onto your legs hugging you as tight as she could. The sobbing started again.”Hey Vanitas, wasn’t she in your group?” you asked him looking back at said man.

His eyes furrowed.” What am I? A babysitter?”

Growling you glared at him.” No, but since you were in her group at least you would recognize her.”

He gave you a glare of his own.”Last time I checked, I’m trying to survive not socialize.”

His response didn’t make anything better, it actually made your glare intensify. Just before you were about to tell him something else, someone called a name.”“Julian!” It was a woman’s voice and it wounded quite desperate. You didn’t even have to guess if this woman was the girl’s mother for she released you and ran off to where the group of people were. They walked behind while the woman ran as fast as she could to meet her daughter- or you guessed.

They met and the woman embraced the girl who only cried even more.After a moment the group stood at your side along with the mother of the girl,Julian.”Oh my god, thank you so much for helping my daughter!” With gratitude she grabbed your hand and squished it.

Smiling you shook your head.”It’s fine, I am just glad that she is fine, just be more careful with her.” She only nodded and then let go of your hand.

Tseng and Elena stared as if expecting you to explain the reason on why you were here.”I came back to check if all of you made it out.” Elena opened her mouth,” And no, I did not attract the zombies.”

“Now, since all of you are gather you should move on, time is running.” You turned around to glare at Vanitas and reached for the Machete, once it was within your reach, you ripped it from his hold.

Vanitas glared back but did nothing.”I’ll like to come with you if you don’t mind.” It was that man,Antonio who did not hesitate to say.

Again, you shook your head.”I can’t, if you want to survive then coming with me is not the solution. Go with them.” Just before you were about to walk, Tseng grabbed your wrist.
