"Alina!" Nikki screams, running toward me and throwing herself at me. I wrap my arms around her and spin in a circle. But then I see Harry and put her down. What's wrong with him?! She mentally asks me with her eyes widened.
"I'll explain in the bus. Let's get him in there." I hold my hand out for Harry to grab and lead him to the bus, Gemma following close behind.
Harry's band mates pour out of the bus, one after the other, gaping as they see what's happened. Liam wears, a stern, yet very worried look on his face.
"Harry . . . What happened?!" Liam asks, running toward his mate.
"I'll explain later. We need to give him these injections before he's completely invisible." I order. Liam steps back and nods. Harry lays down on his right side on his bunk and looks up at me.
"You ready?" I ask. He nods. I let out a shaky breath and place the needle into his neck, slowly pushing the liquid in. His eyes begin to droop, then they shut. I smile as his breaths come out in soft puffs. I turn on my heel to walk away but run straight into a hard, flat chest. "Oh, um . . . sorry. Hi." I feel my cheeks turning bright red as I look up at Louis.
"What happened to Harry?" He asks. I look at Harry and back at Louis.
"They . . . they got to him before I woke up." I look at the floor in shame. I promised to protect him, to get him back safely and I failed. "I tried to help. I did. Really, I did! But they tranquilized me and I couldn't do anything about it and-" Louis cuts me off by pulling me into a hug. "I'm so sorry . . . " I cry.
"Shh . . . it's okay, Alina. You couldn't have done anything about it." He sighs, running his fingers down my wings in a calming manner, but he stops and pulls his hand away. "Oh, Alina, you're bleeding!" He steps back, his fingers covered in blood. My eyes widen.
"I am?!" I gasp. It doesn't even hurt. He turns me around and I feel him moving some feathers aside.
"Liam! Get in here!" Louis shouts. Liam is here within seconds and Louis tells him to hold my wing while he grabs the first aid kit.
"What happened to your wing, Alina?" Liam softly asks.
"I got struck with an arrow after we escaped." I mumble.
"No, I mean . . . What's all this scarring?" He asks. I feel him trace a line down my wing with his fingers, making me shiver.
"Oh . . . " I frown. "I . . . they put me in an arena - for training - and I was in there for so long that I collapsed and . . . well, it cut this wing in half." I cringe at the painful memory.
"When did this happen?" His eyebrows are furrowed as he looks closely at it. "The scars are still pink."
"Two weeks ago." I whisper.
"That's why . . . that's why you couldn't get out, sooner. You were healing." It sounds like he's explaining it to himself. But then . . . they don't know about Harry . . .
"Well, that . . . And Harry- he's-"
"Got it." Louis says, stepping toward us.
"Took you long enough." I joke, shoving his shoulder as he passes by me. He laughs and shakes his head.
"Niall wouldn't let me have it." He crosses his arms.
"Sure . . . " I roll my eyes. Then I feel a stinging poke in my wing and let out a yelp. "Ow!" I turn my head to look at him but he tells me to turn around. I groan and bite down, my jaw clenched tight.
"What the . . . " Louis mumbles. I feel something pulling and try not to scream in pain. Finally it stops and I let out a sigh of relief.
"What? What's wrong?" I ask. Louis steps in front of me and holds out a bloody little square. A tracker. "Get that out of the bus, now." I order.
"Wait- what?" He asks. We don't have time for this. I run out of the bus as fast as I can.
"Everyone! Get on the bus, now!" I shout. They immediately follow my order and get on the bus. I run as fast as I can and throw the tracker as far as I can, before turning around and running back to the bus. Darcey is standing by the door so I grab onto her hand and pull her into the bus, shutting the door. "Can someone drive?" I ask. Niall nods and hops into the drivers seat, taking off, onto the street. About one minute later a big explosion sounds in the distance.
"Maleah, you're-"
"I know." I nod at Zayn and look back at the road. "Can you take me to a veterinary office?"
"I don't know. Where's Harry?" Niall asks. Shoot.
"He's sleeping. Here, use the GPS." Louis says. He picks up his phone and speaks into it. "Okay Google, directions to Cheshirepet."
My eyes widen to the size of golf balls as his phone talks back to him. "Hello, Louis. Here are the directions to Cheshirepet from your current location."
My jaw drops. "Did your phone just-"
"Yes it did." He chuckles. We follow his phones orders and finally, we pull into a cute little brick building.
"Who's gonna go with me?" I ask. Everyone's hands go up. I sigh. "Okay. Let's go." I notice Harry's hand as well. He must have woken up not too long ago. I notice that he's wearing a trench coat. Good idea. "Girls, I want your wings invisible." I order. They nod and we all march into the building.
"Hi welcome to Cheshirepet. How ca-" She seems to lose her voice. "How c-can I help you?" She stands up. There's no one else in the waiting room so I step forward and give her a pleading look before snapping my wings outward.
"I need stitches." I say, as if we're talking business. Her eyes widen and she covers her mouth with her hands.
"I-I'll g-go get th-the vet." She runs off, behind the desk and down a hallway.
"Misty, I assure you, there's no such thing as- oh!" I look up to see a man in a white medical coat. "I apologize." He says to her. He steps toward me and holds out a hand for me to shake, which I do.
"I need an X-ray and stitches." I tell him. He looks from me to everyone else and back to me.
"Follow me."
