"Elena Jane Goulding. I am waiting.", my mom shouted.
"Ugh, yes mother. I'm coming.", I replied and went downstairs.
"What are you wearing, Elena? Where's the dress I bought for you?", my mother asked kind of annoyed.
I was wearing a pair of ripped jeans and a white blouse instead of a dress my mother wanted me to wear.
"I wanted to wear this. The dress just wasn't for me. It's not me."
"What do you mean, Elena? "This is not you?" This is exactly who you are and now stop complaining and go change your clothes. I do not want to hear another word. And hurry up, we're already running late."
"Yes mother.", I replied, went back to my room and quickly changed my clothes.
After that we walked outside our house and saw our limo already waiting, our driver Harold smiled at me as I got in the car. "You both look lovely, Mrs and little Miss Goulding.", he complimented us and started driving.
"See, I told you, Elena.", my mother smiled at me.
"I'm not little though, Harold. I'm turning 21 this year.", I told him and he replied with a smile.
There weren't a lot things I enjoyed in the life I was living. Pretty much all my mother cared about was money. My father was the nephew of the queen of England which means money was never a problem for us but my mother just wanted more. It made me sick. This life full of parties with people who only drink champagne and pretend to be someone they aren't. And I weren't allowed to be myself either.
I constantly had to play the role of Miss Elena Jane Goulding. And it just wasn't me.
"Oh, hello Miss Goulding it is truly a pleasure to see you. Are you enjoying the party?", an old friend of my mother asked me.
"Well, the food is amazing."
"Elena!", my mother warned me.
"Mother, I was joking.", I whispered with a little laugh.
The party wasn't so bad but I was happy when I was back at home.
