"Base camp one calling in for report - out"
"Training camp one, report is who gave me this idiot as a trainee - out."
"Kendra please fill out your report and stop complaining - out."
"Fine, Kendra Strike, day one of recruit training, trainee is Chip Morter age 14, training to be a hunter of Stormers, to-..."
"Chip how many times have I told you not to point the electric gun at me, if you keep doing that I will burn you to a crisp."
"Sorry Miss Strike it's just so cool, watch this..."
I wipe the sweat off my face as Chip burns down yet another tree. It's been a long day, I'm tired of doing training exercises but there's been no reports of Stormers for the last few weeks so I guess I'm stuck teaching these idiots what to do, although they'll probably kill themselves before they kill a Stormer.
"Miss Strike what exactly is a Stormer again?"
"Ugh a Stormer is someone who isn't normal, who has dangerous powers, who can kills and is different from the rest of us." I try to say as patiently as I can.
"Heh, sounds pretty cool to me, I'd bet it'd be awesome to be one if people weren't trying to kill you all the time."
I run up to Chip rage unfurling inside me and pull him up to my face by the scruff of his neck.
"Don't you ever say that, stormers don't deserve to live, a Stormer killed my sister!"
"I'm s-sorry Miss Strike, I-I wasn't thinking."
"No you weren't, I say a little sheepishly as I release him. What am I doing, threatening an innocent child.
As I debate whether to apologize to Chip the radio in my pocket starts buzzing, I click the flashing red light.
"Kendra, it's Leo, we got a situation here in street 40, mind giving us a hand? - out."
I smile to myself. Finally some action and it involves by best friend Leo, I love him to bits. Me and Leo were recruits together, back when recruits were decent. But we were rivals and hated each other until I got hit in a training exercise and Leo helped me. He sacrificed his victory for me, we've been like sister and brother ever since. I escort Chip back to base camp one, boy am I glad to be rid if him, and march through the streets of Venus to street 40. As I walk I think of my sister Ally. She was a hunter too, we were caught in the crossfire between two Stormers, she said she could take the water one out but I told her no. Ally was always stubborn. Before I could stop her she ran into the path of the fire Stormer, pulled up her gun and fired. But it was too late, the girl hadn't seen her, she just kept firing at the cyclone Stormer, she hit her. Ally was gone, she just lay there, pale, wet, cold, dead, my sister stolen from me. The last thing I remember was looking into that water Stormers eyes and seeing the guilt. I snap out of my memories and run on.
Leo pulls me into the shadows and we crouch there surveying the area.
"I've evacuated all of the surrounding homes, we've got one lone female water stormer, doesn't seem to be a threat but we should take out." Leo says.
"Well this isn't the best action I've ever seen but it's better than teaching that kid Chip."
Just then the stormer walks into view. A scruffy looking girl with dark hair and sky blue eyes, those eyes could hold a thousand secrets. Guilt, guilt is in her eyes. Suddenly I loose control I jump up and run at the girl, Leo falls to pull me back.
I've got no gun poised and no defense but I charge at her. Rage and fury building up inside me, I know who that girl is. She doesn't seem to have killed me yet but her hand is outstretched just ready to drown me alive. I don't care I keep running until I'm face to face with her, until she puts a hand on my heart and says "I didn't mean to kill her."
The las thing I hear are Leo's screams before it goes black. My mind is still alive but my bod is frozen. All I can think is that girl killed Ally, that girl killed my sister.
