<><>First day<><>
I woke up to a loud crash shaking the house. A sudden gush of wind filled the room with cold air. I sat up and looked at Toby who seemed to be awake too.
"What the hell was that?" I asked him covering my self up with the covers more.
He didn't answered and got up to open the door to the room. He looked outside and there was a giant tree branch on the outside.
"Oh my god!" He exclaimed. "Ray a tree fell on the house!"
"What?!" I yelled getting up to look out the door. A tree DID fall on the house and we were stuck in the room.
"What are we supposed to do now??" I ask grabbing his arm. He looked at me.
"It's fine, someone has to find us. It's not like they're not going to see a tree on a house." He answered looking at me.
"What are we supposed to do till then?! What if it takes hours, what if it takes days?!" I started to panic and went to the bed to sit down.
"It won't take days." He tried to reassure me.
"You out on your own property! No one is just going to show up!" I said laying down and putting my hands on my face.
"It's fine. We'll be okay." He said walking up to me and resting his hand on my shoulder. I looked up at him with a worried expression on my face. I could tell he noticed and he sat next to me drawing me closer to him for comfort.
"When will they find us?" I asked leaning my head in his shoulder.
"I'm not sure, but they will." He answered. All of a sudden, an idea came to my mind.
"Wait, why can't we try the window?" Our heads snapped to the window, and I'm surprised that we didn't get whiplash. Toby turned to me with a disappointed look on his face.
"It's blocked..." I examined the window further and realized that the trees branches had fallen over the window, covering it completely. I hadn't realized it before, but the room was dark because of the window blockage.
I lifted myself off of the bed and flicked on the light. We both squinted from the brightness. I went back over to the bed and flopped onto it, looking disdainful.
"Aww, Ray, it'll all be fine. I'm sure. What's the worst thing that could happen? No one would find us and we would die a slow, painful death?" Toby said in a feeble attempt to cheer me up.
"Yes, Toby. What if that DOES happen? You always try to be so positive but right now I don't see how it's helping. We don't have any way of finding help! Why can't you understand that?! Be realistic for once!" I shouted. Immediately after I finished my rage I realized it was completely the wrong thing to say. He was just trying to help after all. I ran into the built in bathroom, the only other room that wasn't cut off, and locked the door so I could be alone.
I was completely ashamed. He was my only hope right now and I completely messed things up. I let the tears flow as I pulled a bunch of tissues out of the box. I finished crying and tried to clean myself up.
I unlocked the bathroom door, afraid to see Toby's reaction. What I saw shattered my heart into a million pieces. Toby was slumped on the bed, his head in his hands. He looked up at me, and I could barely look. His face was red and looked like he had been crying. I felt like a horrible person. How could I do this to such an innocent person?
"Toby, look, I-" I started, but Toby cut me off.
"No, Ray, I understand. We ARE in an extremely stressful situation and I don't blame you for snapping. I'm sorry for trying to make you happy, it won't happen again." he said coldly.
I turned away, trying to choke back MORE tears. Now I was getting kind of pissed. I came out to apologize, but I didn't feel a reason to anymore.
"Ok. " was my lame response. All of a sudden I heard a noise. It sounded like it was coming from the bathroom.
I strode over to the bathroom and swung the door open. I listened for a moment until I located the noise, which was in the shower. I threw back the shower curtain, and what I saw filled me with relief.
Gryphon was laying in the tub, whimpering. He had his stuffed creeper by his feet. I leaned over and picked the little Shih-Tzu up. He licked my face feebly and I stroke his head to reassure him that everything would be fine as I wondered how I didn't notice him earlier.
"TOBY!" I yelled, all anger forgotten. "LOOK AT THIS!"
I rushed into the bedroom with Gryphon in my hands.
"Oh my God! He's alive!" Toby screamed frantically, bursting with happiness. I smiled as he came to take the dog from my arms.
Toby started talking to the dog in his Gryphon voice and I decided that I should try to apologize again.
"Toby, I'm truly sorry about what I said before. I didn't mean to say what I did, I'm just completely stressed out. Please forgive me. I need your positive attitude to be able to keep from going crazy in this situation." I murmured.
He looked up from what he was doing right into my eyes, making me feel even more awkward than I already was.
"We won't be here for long, I promise." He answered looking back at Gryphon. Gryphon grabbed his stuffed creeper doll and took it over to the corner of the room to hump it. I burst out laughing and fell back onto the bed, relaxing for the first time since the accident.
I closed my eyes for a second, and when I opened them I found Toby staring at me with a look I hadn't seen on his face before. He realized that I had caught him staring and he stuttered, "I...uh... I didn't... Sorry..."
I knew what he meant. He had the look that Kendal used to give me before the accident.
I leaned up to where our faces were only inches apart. "You don't have anything to apologize for. I should be the one apologizing, I still feel horrible for what I said." I said quietly.
I looked down to see Toby had placed his hand on mine. I looked back up at him only for him to lean in and press his lips on mine in a perfect motion.
In the beginning I started out feeling surprised, after all we were supposed to just be "friends." After a few seconds I realized that I didn't want to sacrifice our friendship, and when Toby's tongue demanded entrance to my mouth I denied and backed away ending the kiss. Toby placed his forehead against mine looking at me with his gorgeous hazel eyes. A few moments later I laid back on the bed, refusing his affection. He stared at me and then nervously looked at his hands twiddling his thumbs.
"I'm sorry for that." He finally said his face beginning to turn a bright red.
"It's okay, I liked it." I answered him immediately turning to face me his expression was in disbelief.
"What?" He asked looking confused.
"The kiss, it felt good." I answered. "But Toby, it's only a kiss. It was nothing more."
His look changed to what I believed was disappointment.
"I guess your right, it was only a kiss." He laid down next to me. I rested my head on my pillow to finish sleeping through the night.
