"My head" Kean groaned as he slowly got up

He felt something on his left cheek, he touched it and immediately knew that it was a band-aid. Kean looked around to where he was. The first thing that caught his attention is the huge book shelves near the door. Both shelf was almost full with books. At the center of the room there was a huge mahogany table with a laptop placed on the corner.

Beside the laptop sat a girl that was glancing at Kean curiously. She has short jagged raven black hair that barely touched her shoulder, a pale complexion and a petite built. The girl was also wearing a thin rimmed glasses that kinda covered her amber eyes. She was wearing a black wind breaker that covered her uniform.

"Did you do this? Kean asked indicating the band-aids

The girl simply nodded returning her attention to her book.

Kean got up and sat in front of the mystery girl "I'm Kean Grayson, and thanks"

The girl got up and poured a glass of hot chocolate and handed it to Kean "Yuki Stephens" she said not looking at him.

"Hnn"

Kean looked at Yuki while she read. When she noticed him looking at her a tint of red crossed her pale cheeks. It confused Kean a little bit so he decided to just look at her books at the shelves.

"Is this all yours?"

Yuki gently shook her head.

"They are donated" she said in a monotone

"I see" Kean took a random book out and asked "Mind if I borrow this?"

The girl glanced slowly nodded another tint of red crossed her cheeks.

"Thanks Yuki, I'll return this tomorrow, thanks again for stitching me up" Kean gave her a lopsided grin.

He grabbed his scarf by the couch and tied it around his neck, Kean took another look at Yuki and decided to take his leave.

"GRENADE!" Marshall yelled through his head piece that nearly deafen Kean.

"Marshall, I'm wearing my head piece near my ear, so keep it down!" he said.

"Okay. GET DOWN!" Marshall yelled again

Kean sighed with exasperation. He turned of his Xbox leaving Marshall alone in the battlefield. He was really tired and his mom going ballistic because his face his covered in band-aids again didn't help.

As he laid down on his bed, he noticed the book that he borrowed from Yuki on his nightstand. He grabbed the book and started reading for lack of better things to do. As Kean read his minded drifted to a certain amber eyed girl. "Where have I heard her name before?" He thought.

Yuki Stephens. He ran the name repeatedly but nothing came to mind.

"This is too troublesome!" Kean groaned as he shut the book, finishing it already.

"Why did you leave me alone!?" Marshall whined "I still won, but still that's mutiny or something"

Kean jammed his hands in his pocket  preventing the cold to freeze his fingers. He listened to his friend continue his rant as they trudge towards the school.

"Do you know a girl named Yuki Stephens?" Kean interrupted him.

"Yeah, why?"

"Tell me about her"

"Well from what I know, she's a sophomore like us also in AP classes but from a different class, she is also the only member of the Literary Club, why the interest?" Marshall asked

"She's the one that helped me after Gary beat me up" Kean said

Marshall is the only person that understood why Kean doesn't fight back besides from the obvious reason having no motivation Kean is a pacifist, at least to a certain extent. Marshall saw the last time Kean fought back, the bully was twice their size and always picked on the little kids in their school.

The bully made the mistake of picking on Chloe when she was on the playground which earned him an arm and a leg cast for six months. After that the bully moved to another school, all of their classmates became a little apprehensive of Kean.

"Oh. So you developing the hots for her, I mean I could totally see her charm" Marshall said wiggling his eyebrows.

Kean shoved Marshall who managed to trip himself.

"Serves you right, you're getting troublesome" Kean smirked.

Marshall rolled his eyes as he got up and continued to annoy Kean by whining about the game last night.

When the last bell finally rang Kean's feet took him towards the third floor, the Literary Club room. Kean stood at the door for about 5 minutes, unsure of what to do, he did promised to return the book but something about Yuki is making him uneasy.

He finally managed to muster up the courage and knocked gently at the door, after a few seconds Kean heard a faint "Come in"

**********************************************

Yuki was sitting on the same spot as yesterday, a new book on her lap and a glass of hot chocolate on the window sill. When the door opened Yuki was surprised that it was Kean Grayson. She quickly returned to her book, she stole quick glances at the lanky teen. He untucked his button down shirt, his tie hung loosely, the same black scarf is around his neck while his coat was tucked in his bag.

"I came to return this" he said while placing the book back on it's spot. "I really liked it, thanks for lending it to me" Kean continued while scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

Yuki didn't know what to say to him so she just simply nodded.

"Okay, so guess I'll be going now, see you around" he said

When Yuki heard those words she immediately stopped reading. Something in her told her that she should prevent him from leaving. There's something about Kean that piqued her interest.

"Wait" she mumbled

"Huh?" Kean said as he looked over his shoulder and watched her from the corner of his eye.

Yuki grabbed a club application form and handed it towards him as blush creep on her cheeks.

'Please consider joining" she spoke meeting his dark chocolate colored eyes.

Kean looked at the sheet of paper then back at her then gave her a crooked smile "Sure" then patted her head which made her blush even more.
