What Is #ProjectHeartwork

The warmest of welcomes to newcomers and old members, thank you for becoming a part of this very person movement #ProjectHeartwork (previously, ProjectYou). This campaign was started to help promote an ongoing issue that continues to increase world wide - mental illness and mental health stigma. The main purpose of this campaign is to regard those who are struggling and also make aware of the poor depiction of mental health in writing. 1 in 4 people are affected with a mental health issue. 1 in 17 lives battle with a serious mental illness such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Around 450 million people of the world's population suffer from a mental illness; ranging from depression and anxiety disorder to personality disorder and substance use disorder. Each year, one million people commit suicide due to depression or ill mental health - that is one death every forty seconds.

This project has been created to help prevent that and educate communities who are less knowledgeable. This is to help lesson people's want to end their sentence and to support those who are agonized by these illnesses. This does not mean these people are sick, they are struggling. Mental illness shouldn't antagonise the public because these are real issues that a world wide community should want to help. A major hope for the future is to be able to lesson suicide rates - which is one of the leading causes of death amongst adolescents and adults.

This campaign is very close to my heart as I know it will be to many of yours. By simply following the Project Heartwork profile or adding the hashtag #ProjectHeartwork to the 'about' section of your Wattpad profile page is already a step of support to this ongoing issue, and with you help, so many beautiful goals can be achieved.
