I fiddle with my triad necklace ,that hangs proudly round my neck, and rock backwards and forwards on my feet. God, this is exciting, I'm about to meet my idols, who have helped me through the ups and downs and whose music I almost always turn to if I feel down in the dumps. (other times it's my guitar!) I look around to see who else is here at the meet and greet, they're all Echelon and we all share a passion and love together of one band, we're all basically a family even if we don't know each other. Theres a few the same age as me with their parents and some older and younger than me, and I'm with my best friend. It was she who introduced me to the band that have inspired me through all choices that I make. She's holding a CD that she's recorded and written herself that she wants to give to them. I've drawn a picture of them all ( it took me a few days to get it right!) and even if they don't hang it up in a studio or wherever, I don't care, it's only the thought of sharing something I love doing with them and that memory will be carried with me forever. One day I would like to have a tattoo of a quote from one of their songs that has inspired me in life, maybe across my back...

I'm wearing red and white converses with denim jeggings that look really baggy on me because I'm so skinny and I've teamed them with a Mars hoodie that I treasure. I've dyed my hair strawberry red and have tied it up in a messy bun and my side fringe casually hangs down over my left eye. All my friends say I'm really pretty, but I don't really care, except photos which I think make me look really fat. Emma's wearing skinny jeans, some gorgeous brown boots that I secretly want to steal and a Mars 300 tee and also a triad necklace. Her hair's a gorgeous blonde and she says she never wants to dye it, I don't blame her, mine's naturally chocolate brown, but I've always wanted red.

An echelon comes up to me and Emma, she's dyed her hair blonde with streaks of pomegranate ( which I think, she has copied Jared's hair when he had a pomegranate mohawk but it looks quite cool on her) she smiles warmly at us and says "Hi there, my name's Zoe! I'm a massive fan of Mars! How about you guys?" And then looks at us quizzically. Me and Emma exchange looks to see who introduces first.

"Hi Zoe! I'm Sarah and this is Emma. Of course we're massive fans! We're echelon!" I reply, gesturing to me then to Emma.

"I'm so excited, I can't wait to meet them, I've written them a letter and everything!" explains Zoe, and she starts hopping from one foot to the other in excitement. "The concert was epic wasn't it?!"

"Sure was, they all are. That's 30 Seconds to Mars for you!" says Emma and smiles warmly at Zoe. I think Zoe is younger than us, we're both 15. Her answer confirms my thoughts.

"I'm 12 and this is my first time!"

"That's so sweet." I say and rub her shoulder. "I hope you've had a memorable day!"

"I sure have! I've been an echelon for about a year now and I'm so glad I am."

"I've been an echelon for two years" I say smiling to myself about the moment I discovered them on YouTube after Emma mentioned them to me...

It was an audio of This Is War, and the beginning was epic and when Jared started singing, I just knew I loved Mars from that moment on as I got chills and never felt happier, and by the end I was singing along. I searched their other videos and consistently rewatched From Yesterday, A Beautiful Lie, Kings and Queens, The Kill and Closer To The Edge. :)

and when I told Emma about them, she said she was really happy and that she had been an echelon for about a year. I was shocked and then again happy that we now both have something in common.

"And." announces Zoe. "I'm going tomorrow to watch MCR in concert!"

"God, you're lucky!" I say aloud. I love My Chemical Romance. I've been a killjoy for about the same time as being an echelon, as Mars has opened my eyes to whole world of AMAZING rock! ( Including Nirvana!)
