I sat on our terrace within the cube of water I had managed to create. If the government knew what I was able to do they would immediately send me to the underground. I was one of the few who knew about the underground.

I hear the door open and see my mother consciously walk onto the terrace.

"You know if you keep doing that they'll take you away from me. "
I could see the pain in her eyes.

In all honesty I wanted to go to the underground. I didn't fit in with this world anymore. Not after I found out the things I could do with water alone.

I was about 12 when I found out I could create things with water. It wasn't until two years later that I showed my mother. She didn't know how I was able to do it and neither did I. We both tried our best to keep it off the radar because it wasn't something that I could share with the whole world. Although i wouldn't mind if the government had found out.

We lived on the small side of our town. Not many people lived there but enough to make my mother and I cautious about getting close to people. I never really had any friends as I was growing up and as I became older I never felt the need to have friends. They would just find out about what I had and would run scared to their parents. This would then lead to me being taken away.

I had my mother and my odd power. The two things that meant the most to me in this life. Without them both I wouldn't be where I am now.

My mother was in the kitchen making cookies. She only ever did that if something good has happened or she was stressed.

"Mom, you okay? You're making cookies again. Is someone coming over?"

She didn't look at me. She was shaking just standing there. No one was coming over, she was stressed and I knew why. I had used my power when she wasn't around and did it out side in the open.

"I'm fine 'Kay', just worried. You know the town meeting is next week. You're finally old enough to go. If you'd like we could go. "

"If it makes you feel better, then I'll go."

I hated to see my mother like this. She was never the strongest person, but she wasn't weak.
