Mia

I drove and drove until I ran out of gas. My car ended up right in Phoenix and I got out to walk the rest of the way. I didn't get to far before running into a guy I asked for directions. "Excuse me sir, can you tell me where I am?" I asked him and he looks me up and down.

"Where are you lookin' to go?" He responds. I rolled my eyes and continued walking. "If you need a hotel one is right up the street just keep walkin'." He yells behind me.

My feet starting to hurt inside these heels so I took them off. I finish my way to the hotel barefoot, luckily I didn't have far to walk. I spotted the hotel in the distance and picked up my pace.

Making it in the front entrance of the hotel, I head for the check-in desk.

"Hello. Room for one." I say to the man at the desk, digging around my purse for my wallet.

"....How many nights ma'am?" He asks.

"I don't know yet....can't I just get an extension on one night?" I rub my head feeling a headache coming on.

"I'm sorry we don't do that here."

"Whatever. Two nights." I hand him my card.

"Thank you. It'll be $390." He programs my card in the computer and hand it back to me with a room key. "Third floor to your left." I walk to the elevator. I notice a slim dark girl approach me. She stood next to me and waiting for the elevator as well. We both got on and off at the third floor. For a second I could of sworn this bitch was following me until she turned right when I turned left. I swiped the key to my room door and went inside. The first thing I did was fall into the bed. But I was forced to get back up when somebody knocked on my door. When I opened it the dark skinned girl stood there smiling.

"Can I help you?" I ask her.

"...I'm sorry that I might have made it weird. I wasn't trying too. I'm Ramina....Ramina Edwards." She held out her hand and I stared at it before placing my hand in it.

"I'm Mia Roberts."

"....You from here? I have never seen you around before."

"No....I'm from San Diego."

"Really? Why you come here?"

"I don't really think that's your business." I get ready to close to the door in her face. She stops it.

"I'm not trying to be in your business or anything...I just asked a question." I can tell she was sincere enough for me to talk to so I invited her in.

We sat on the bed talking for hours, "Wow so you really fuckin' killed a bitch?" She asked.

I nervously nodded my head. "Yeah that's why I'm here in Phoenix." I admit. She smiles and grabs the wine bottle and pour herself another glass. "....Are you going to snitch on me?" I snicker after sipping another swallow of my wine.

She shakes her head and finishing swallowing done hers, "Of course not girl, I ain't no snitch. I got yo secret...right here." She points to her heart. I smile and lean over to hug her. "But what was the purpose? You know you have to live with that on your conscience forever right?" I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

"Yeah I know....But I was with my best friend...Bella....and some girl was about to shoot her in the parking lot. I panicked and remembered that I had a gun in my glove compartment, and before I knew it I just shot her...." I tried to fight back tears. "I....took a life." A tear fell.

She scooted closer to hug me and wiped away the wet streak the tear left on my cheek. "You did what you had to do Mia, if I was you I would of done the same thing for my bitch and no one is going to blame you. Are you wanted or something?" She lets go of me.

"No I don't think so." I sniffle.

"So what you plan on living in this hotel for the rest of your life?" I tap my glass with my nails, processing that idea while she finishes off the last round of the red wine she ordered. "Tell me no."

"I mean, I wanna go back but I just can't accept that I did something that evil. Maybe I'll go back after the heat cools down." I say.

"But you said nobody is after you so what heat is there?" I think a long time about what she is saying and start to think that maybe she is right, and I was just to afraid to go back home. But I missed Bella and I knew she a never forgive me for missing the birth of her daughter.

"I guess you right. I just don't wanna go back. At least not no time soon." I look toward the window.

"Nobody forcing you right now. If you need time to relax just do you, and know you got somebody to chill with whenever you need it." She smiled. "But you can't run away from your problems, trust me I learned that the hard way." I saw the tension build up in her face. I starting sensing something was wrong.

"What happened? What you mean?" I reached for her hands. She continued to neglect making eye contact with me. "Ramina, what is that you ain't telling me?"

"...Nothing it's just been a little crazy with my job or whatever. I could barely afford the wine I just paid $1000 for." She half smiles.

"....Wait so you having money problems?" I clarify a little.

"Yep. That's exactly it. I have a plan though." She focused on her fingers before looking at me. "But now that I met you...I wanna see if you'll help or something. You'll benefit as well."

I furrow my eyebrows and twist up my lips, "What is this plan?" I asked curiously.

"Keep a open mind alright?...." I nodded. "I wanna rob my ex-boyfriend. He has a big ass fucking warehouse full of shit like drugs of all kinds and guns and I know if I can get my hands on some of that shit I could sell it to some local buyers and I can make a nice profit, or if you help...we can make a nice profit." She grins.

"Who is your ex-boyfriend?" I asked this final question.

".....His name is Kasey."
