Author's Note;

Hey, so before you get further into this, I'd like to say I am only uploading two chapters to give you guys a feel of what my book will be about. The reason I'm only uploading two chapters is because I never imagined this book to be put on Wattpad. Of course I have actually finished this entire thing, but I'd rather not transport it all to Wattpad and it's just a book that I imagine to be published. If worse comes to worse with publishing, I will consider uploading it to Wattpad but it is highly unlikely. But yes, feel free to leave comments on how it is and whatever. Thank you.

CHAPTER ONE

It was always very strange growing up for Marian-Rose. Not because of the fact she was growing up and going through plenty of changes, but because from the age of four, she didn't have parents. Mysteriously, they'd gone missing. The strangest part of all was being put in a car which belonged to somebody she didn't know, and being told that both of her parents were now a part of a missing person's investigation. At the time, she never really understood what they meant by 'missing person's' until after quite some months. Her parents never came home and she realised that that was what the man in the black suit meant. The longest they had ever left her and her brother was only a week, never months. It took years for Marian finally to figure out that her parents were not, nor were they ever going to return home. She never really did move on, although. A big part of her life had gone missing just like that, without any reason or explanation, just simply gone.

She was breathing uneasily as her long, slim fingers flexed uncomfortably, fist clenching and unclenching. Her foot tapped lightly against the ground, knee bobbing whilst she chewed on the inside of her bottom lip, staring straight ahead at the boring painting of a Cheshire cat across from where she sat. She jumped at the sound of a voice beside her, her head whipping around so fast it hurt. She cleared her throat and rose to her feet when she noticed the voice belonged to her grandmother, Rosemary, who was facing the doctor, mumbling things. Marian couldn't hear what they were saying and frankly, she wasn't really interested. Hurriedly, Rosemary grabbed onto Marian's arm and practically dragged her to the front desk, paying the Nurse as quickly as ever. Marian stumbled when she was tugged once again and they both headed down the hospital hallway. She licked her lips, running a hand through her hair and snatching her arm back from her grandmother whilst she was at it.

"So?" She asked, looking at her grandmother who didn't bother to glance back. "What's wrong with me?" At that, Rosemary's head snapped back to her, and she glared at Marian, frowning.

"Nothing is wrong with you, Marian." She simply stated, rushing for the door. Marian had to jog to keep up, grabbing onto her shirt to tug her grandmother back gently. They exited the hospital and Marian sighed,

"I'm serious. What did the doctor say?" Rosemary stopped, facing Marian. Quickly, she stopped herself from walking, avoiding bumping into Rosemary. She stabilised herself and folded her arms across her chest, raising an eyebrow.

"He thinks your ADHD and anxiety is getting a lot worse." She began, unable to look her granddaughter in the eyes.

"And the depression?" Marian asked. Rosemary sighed sadly, fiddling with her beige handbag. Her grey-blonde hair was tied back into a bun, but it wasn't neat. It was messy and it looked like she was stressed out.

"We don't know. Maybe you should double-up on your anti-depressants?" She suggested. Marian frowned and began to walk to the car.

"I barely take the pills as one. I don't need medication to fix my problems, because it doesn't help at all. I can fix it myself; it'll just be a longer...more complicated process. I'm fine." Her grandma sighed and walked beside her.
