Still slightly wide eyed, I take my place at the Glycon table. Looking over my shoulder, I catch sight of Annais chatting and laughing with the  Dyrathrors and wish that I was with her. She's the only one I know here...and since I don't know literally anything about this place, that might be a problem. I still hear names being called out in the background while I stare at the swirls of wood grains in the table. Did I expect to be put into the same house as Annais...not really, but I was hoping for it.

Someone waves a hand infront of my face and I snap my head up to face them. I'm met with the boy who turned up late earlier.

"Tyler." He introduces himself, holding his hand out for a handshake.

"Mireya." I reply, cautiously taking his hand. He has light brown, short hair, mid-toned skin and piercing blue eyes. Since Annais did say he was wearing some sort of designer brand, I'm watching my back. It's not his fault I guess, Just my experience with rich kids.

We sit in silence, listening to the rest of the names and groups being called out.

After what seems like an awkward eternity later, all the new students were sorted into houses. Surprisingly, most of the other students were sorted into Dyrathror, Mimir or Azrael. The only other new students to be sorted into Glycon besides me and Tyler was a girl with mid-sized feathery wings named Stephanie Dantella and a boy with pale skin and extremely dark eyes named Medan Siri. I hadn't noticed this before, but Glycon is noticeably smaller than all the other houses.

"It's because all the other houses honour traits that are specific to individuals, while Glycon just takes in pretty much anyone who doesn't fall into their categories, with a few strong exceptions." Medan tells us.

"We didn't say anything" I blurt out, Shocked.

"Not out loud, but telepathically you asked why is Glycon so much smaller to the others." He explains.

"But Ho-"

"I'm a deamon. I can read thoughts, if I want to." He continues, "But I don't usually do it. I just got bored and wondered why the heck hasn't anyone said anything to each other yet?" He said with a smirk.

"We just met. It's not like we're gonna be sharing secrets." Stephanie remarks.

"Well, we did get sorted into friendship, so it's kinda Ironic how no one has made a noise since we sat down." I suggest, followed by stares from the other three.

"With brains like that, you should be in Mimir." Tyler comments.

"She obviously was almost sorted somewhere else." Steph adds.

"Wait what." I say, completely oblivious to why she said that.

"You turned around because something was pulling at you right?" She asks. I nod in answer

"Well, none of the four main mascots were, they were taking waaaayyy too long to decide, which is another factor. And there is a myth that only students that don't fit into a certain category will feel that 'tug' before the mascots decide." She explains.

"Maybe the only reason you're sitting here is that you have too many traits to sort you into a specific one." Tyler reasons.

"I thought you would have known that." Medan questions. Uhh...best not to tell them I'm not from here...at least not yet.

"I...forgot." I mumble, trying to avoid eye contact.

"Riiiiggghhhtt." The deamon obviously sensing some controversy there. Just then, one of the students on the other end of the table gets up and gestures for the rest of the house to follow him.

"Oop. Head Kid wants us to the dormitories." Stephanie gets up, her wings brushing the table as she turns around, and the four of us follow the rest of our fellow Glycons down the halls. I glance back at the Dyrathror table just as we reach the doors, In time to see Annais waving and mouthing 'see you later!' Shyly, I wave back and scurry onwards.

As we neared what I assumed was our living quarters, I noticed the corridors slowly changing to what I'm more used to. The stone walls and uneven cement floor slowly giving way to cream floor tiles and warm, dark wood panels on the sides. Not exactly modern, but not medieval like before. Then the group of us stop in the middle of the hallway. On the left wall, is what I guess is the entrance to our rooms. It barely looks any different to the rest of the wood paneling, except a light gold-ish outline marking the door frame and a carving of a wolf in the center at about head hight of the older students.

"The password to our dorms this year is Glycon only knowledge, no matter what else we share, this is the one thing we must not spill." The head boy calls from the front of the group, followed by him turning to face the door.

"Password." A voice booms. It shocked me so much that I took a step back, followed by even more confusion surging through me after I figured that it was the carving speaking. However no one else seemed disturbed by this. 'It's normal here' I told myself.

"amicis suis in proelio" Our Head student answers, followed by "Granted" from the carving.

Once inside, the crowd disperses, all the rest of the kids already knowing where they are to stay. Only now I can see my surroundings clearly. The Glycon room has a very welcoming feel to it. Blondish wood covered the  large common room, with vines flowing out of the cracks in between them. A stone fireplace sat in one corner, with plush sofas and a round table filling the rest of the space. Several large arched windows were set in the walls, displaying the picturesque scenery outside. Six well lit hallways split in different directions, presumably to the bedrooms.

"You four lucky ones stay down that hall." Our Leader points to the left most opening. Now closer up, I could see his brown, tussled hair and fair skin with a black mark of sorts on his wrist. "The boys in one room and the girls in the other. You choose which is which." With that he turned and headed down his corridor. We all glanced at each other, then sprinted down the hall. There were two doors at the end, unlike the one to the shared room, clearly set out. Steph was the first one there, since she half-flew, half sprinted the whole length, and pushed into the one on the left. Naturally, I had no choice but to follow her in as the boys took the door on the right.

The room itself had Two beautifully set out beds, curtains and all, with silver bedspreads and fluffy pillows. At the foot of both sat chests for our belongings, which, upon inspection, already held uniforms and books. A window identical to the ones in the common room sat in the middle of the beds. A door on the left led to the bathroom, while one on the right joined ours and the boys' rooms, which seemed to be a mirror image of ours.

"It's like they knew there would only be four of us." I muttered.

"WELL YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT THE TEACHERS DO!!!" Tyler screams from the other room. Even with the door closed, he still somehow managed to hear us.

Steph and I smile at each other then simultaniously yell.

"YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!!"
