Chapter 3: I know that i'm to blame, cause i've never been anyone else
*~* Cassidy *~*
After running into the house, I’m stopped by the cutest four year old ever. I pick her up giving her a kiss on the cheek and settling her on my hip. “Mommy!” she giggles.
I switch her to my other hip giving her a stern look. “Jessie. I’m Cassidy. LeAnne is Mommy.” I grumble. Man I really dislike that chick. I can’t say hate, because it’s not that strong. But it’s getting there. Jessie just shakes her head and giggles again.
Shaking my head at her stubbornness, I set her down. “Go play with daddy or something munchkin.” She runs off without so much of a goodbye. I roll my eyes. Little kids.
I take the steps two at a time, hoping to get to Jessica’s room as soon as possible. When I get there, her doors already open so I don’t bother alerting her to my presence. I sneak over to her desk where she’s sitting tapping away at her keyboard.
“Whatcha dooooing?” I whisper in her ear, laughing my butt off as she jumps practically three feet in the air, in surprise. “Raiyna –Leigh Cassidy! What in the name of bacon wrapped chocolate are you doing?”
I laugh, seriously, you’d think her, with her college education, would be able to come up with something better than ‘In the name of bacon wrapped chocolate.’
“Bacon…wrapped…chocolate?” I manage to choke out between laughs. She just rolls her eyes and sits on her bed next to me. “So, I heard about you and Klarissa. I think you were right, and she should have been punched.” I smiled of course Jessica would have my back; she is like the sister I never had.
“I so would have, but Jace doesn’t take too kindly to me punching his girlfriends in their fake noses, no matter how annoyingly bi**chy they are.” I smile at her apologetically But then frowned at the use of BB’s actual name.
“Jess, why does everybody keep calling Barbie B!*ch by that name?” I ask, giving her my best innocent look.
“Well,” she answers, “You’re the only one who just met her, and you haven’t yet become accustom to her…um…abrasive personality.” Abrasive personality? What is this girl on?
“Jess? What is your major?” I ask, turning towards her, a skeptical look etched into my features.
“Psychology. With a minor in human studies. Why?” she asks, her face mimicking my own.
“Oh nothing.” I smile, “You just sound an awful lot like that counselor I used to go with Jace to see.”
“oh” she opened her mouth to say more but whatever she was going to say was cut off by a knock at the door. We both turned in the direction of the sound, our eyes landing on Jace’s older brother Jayme.
“Jay! Oh my goody goodness! Where have you been, and why have I been watching Jessie instead of LeAnne?” I question, as I jump up from the end of the bed and hug him wrapping my legs around his torso.
He stumbles back, catching himself on the doorframe. “Well my lovely, I’ve been getting my college education, and you’ve been watching Jessie lately because LeAnne’s boyfriend has decided that he wants to move in. So I told her I wasn’t going to leave Jessie there with her until I met the guy, which she refused.” He smiles down at me. “Does that answer your question love?” He asks placing a kiss on both of my cheeks and forehead.
