When I left the camp, I thought of Daniel. Oh, how I wished he was still with me. Why? Why did Lily have to steal him? I wiped a tear from my eye. I never cry.
"Are you ok?" Ember asked me.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I whispered.
"You know, I know a lot about relationships." Ember replied.
I laughed, "Okay, Mr. Love, how many girlfriends have you had in your whole entire life?"
Ember was silent for a moment, trying to come up with a number. "Three hundred eleventy ten." He told me pleased with himself.
"Ok, like that's a number." I giggled. I paused for a moment, "exactly how old are you?" I said sizing down to him. This time he really was silent, like he was deciding to lie or tell the truth.
"Around 15." Ember said looking at the ground, like it isn't ok to be 15 when you look like a seven year old.
"You probably are going to leave me here alone, just like when my adopted parents found out." He said while having a tear trickle down his freckled, pudgy face.
"How long have you been 15?" I replied.
He looked shocked, "You know?"
"Son, I can read you like a book." I giggled, trying to make this awkward scilence end. He laughed too, thank goodness.
Doesn't that joke make you laugh too? Sorry if it doesn't, just trying to reach out to comedy side.
"In that case, if you add it up, I am like..." Ember said trying to figure out the math, "Got it!" He shouted. "Give or take, 116 years old."
"So that's why you are so smart for an seven year old!" I shouted because of my epiphany.
"Where are we going?" Asked Ember as we started to see the trail again.
"Found it!" I said to myself.
"Where are we going?" Ember said, again.
"You will see when the time comes." I winked at him.
