Ego.

The rest of the car journey was pretty much silent. Apart from Walters snide comments like "Where are all the hot girls" and "Your car stinks of poor people" I managed not to stop at the side of the road to punch him in the face.

Walter made me drop him off three blocks away from school, as he 'didn't want to be seen with us' understandable, but still rude. So far I despised Walter, Gemma was already swooning over him, the whole car journey she was drooling over him looking in the side mirror. The one thing I wouldn't let him do was break that girls heart.

Unsurprisingly, Walter was the talk of the school that day. Nearly every single girl in the school came up to Gemma to tell them how jealous they were of her. She dismissed them, clearly now she had gotten over the factr Walter was staying over. At lunch a crowd of girls were crowded over Walters table which was just next to ours, with there asses out. Walter took no subtlety in hiding his ego as he flirted his way through the schools population of cheerleaders and barbies. Me and Gemma were sitting at the table with Chan and Lisa. The ultimate cutesy couple. A couple of the cheerleaders sneered as I walked towards the table, and I heard a blond one mutter 'hippo' under her breath. Walter let out a big laugh and whispered something into the blond girls ear and the laughed again.

Gemma looked at me, with wide eyes. "Why are they laughing at you Amanda?" Her face was calm with anger.

"They're  not. I mean its nothing" I saw Gemma's disapproval flash through her face as her face reddened. "Seriously its fine...I'm used to it....I get fatty and hippo and that all the time."

"You shouldn't let those stuck up bitches let you feel that way. Especially that stuck up posh snob." By now Gemma was deliberately speaking loudly and a few tables around were looking in to what was happening.

The blond cheerleader head snapped up. "Is there anything you are wanting to say to us Gemma?"  Clearly thinking that Gemma would back down as she smirked and looked at her rest of her pack and Walter. Still smirking. She was so wrong.

"Yes. There is actually."  Gemma stood up facing the girl, and Walter was grinning proudly at the scene. By the time the whole canteen was watching  the little red head and the blond flat chested cheerleader facing head on.

"Oh really is there. Fire away."

"I don't like the way you treat people, I don't like the way you  try to flirt with every living being. You look down on everyone who's not in your stupid cheer squad and quite frankly you need to get you life together and stop making people feel so low everyday of my life because maybe one day that might be you. But wait Keeley..Isn't it that what you're called? That was you at one point. And we all know it. So why don't you stop pretending as if you've always been some skinny bimbo, as all that makes you is fake. And plastic melts with fire." Gemma was completely red and embarrassed and at this point Keeley was about to cry as she ran out the canteen. Everyone with there mouths open. A few cheerleaders ran after her and then the canteen went back to normal as if nothing had happened. Walter was looking at me, with something different in his eye..Sympathy maybe? Whatever it was as it didn't matter. I smiled at Gemma.

"You didn't have to do that Gemma." I sighed.

"I did. I wanted too."

"You kicked ass."

"She had it coming. Gosh I've been wanting to do that since ninth grade." Walter was still looking and as me and Gemma got up to walk out of the canteen he snickered. Gemma turned around.

"You can forget about that ride home tonight Walter." With that we walking out of the canteen, not looking back and feeling awesome.

6th period.  American History with Mr Willis, an elderly teacher who insisted on keeping a strict classroom but never had any clue of what is ever going in his classroom.

This was one of the of the only classes without Gemma, so I was sat alone. We were ten minutes into the lesson when there was a knock on the door and Walter walked in.

"Hello, is the Mr Willis' American History class?" He pulled a bute boy smile, and a couple of girls squealed quietly.

"It indeed is." Mr Willis handed him a text book and pointed at the spare seat by mine. "You can sit next to Ms Morris there, Make sure you stay there for the next of the year if you don't want to get into any trouble Mr Green."

Walter smiled a devious smile as he stalked towards the table. He. sat down next to me, and leaned back carelessly. "Isn't American history just one of the funnest thing you can imagine." He said under his breath. After a few minutes the class broke into chatter and Mr Willis wounderd into his own little world again.

I felt a tap on my should. Ugh. I turned to face a smirking Walter.

"What do you want?"

"Hello Amanda."

"What do you want Walter." I snapped.

He smirked. "Feisty. I like it."

"Just tell me."

"Gemma...does she have a boyfriend." He smirked a weird smile as he leaned back and knew exactly what he was thinking. No.

"No. Don't even think about it." I snapped at him. "Please, If you dare go near her or hurt her I swear you will regret it for the rest of you damn spoilt life." At first he looked taken back, but after long that smirk plasterd back onto his face.

"Don't you dare ever think that some stupid little- well not so little in size wise may I just say- will ever get in my way." I felt tears well in my eyes. I wasn't strong like Gemma, I wasn't pretty, or skinny I was just worthless. That's what Walter made me feel. Worthless.
