Chapter 3 ~ "I hate feeling like this."

The rest of the school day passed in a blur. For some strange reason I couldn't get Drew out of my mind so I found it hard to concentrate.

I was about to pull out of the parking lot when I got a text from my mom telling me to pick up my brothers and sisters from their school. I sighed knowing this meant that we would be alone for the rest of the night. I replied saying that I would and not to worry about us. I turned off the GPS as I backed out knowing I passed the Junior High and Elementary School on my way to school.

"How convenient." I thought out loud. Turning on the radio I put my Emblem3 CD in and started singing along loudly and terribly off key. Sunset Blvd has to the best song ever written. I am not afraid to say that I am obsessed with this band, they can always cheer me up. Well, mostly.

Five songs and 20 minutes later, I pulled up to the Junior High. I texted my brother to let him know that I was there. A few seconds later, him and my sister were sprinting towards the car. They hopped in the car with terrified faces.

"GO, GO,GO!" Luke screamed pointing towards the road. I looked out the passenger window to see a very angry older man walking towards my car.

I sighed exasperatedly. "What'd you guys do this time?" I wasn't all that surprised, really. No, I was more annoyed than anything.

"We kinda maybe set a stink bomb off in the cafeteria with a few other people." Lyss spoke hanging her head.

"Really, guys?" I rolled my eyes as I put the car in drive. The old man was nearly at the door already when I pulled off the curb. "Can't you guys go one day without pranking someone?" I hissed glaring at Lyss through the rear view mirror and punching Luke on the shoulder. "You guys are going to be 14 this year, you need to grow up!"

I was so annoyed with these two getting trouble because I was always the one to bail them out of it.

"Sorry, Riley." Lyss mumbled softly.

"If you were really sorry, you wouldn't have done it in the first place."

"But I didn't want t-"

"No, buts Lyss. You did it, whether you wanted to or not." I cut Lyss off with a heavy glare. She dropped her head and started playing with her hands. Luke was oddly quiet as well. We sat in silence for a while as I drove to pick up our little sister Reese.

"Hey, Lyss.. You can fix this, right?" Luke finally spoke up after about five minutes. "I mean," He paused looking for the right words, "mom won't, y'know, find out?"

"Luke, I'm not a god, I can't do everything." I stopped when I saw the look on his face. He knew he was in for it, but tough luck that's what they get! I looked in the rear-view mirror to see Lyss's face only to have me heart squeeze. Why are they acting so different about this? Usually they would have conned me into helping them cover up their mess by now. But they look so... So sad.

I got to the Elementary quicker than I thought. "I'll be back." I called as I shut the door. I walked into the surprisingly big building and into the main entrance. I located the office and practically ran towards the doors.

"Hey, I was wonder-" I paused when I noticed a guy already standing at the front desk. Whoever it was seemed a little angry at the old woman, who I'm guessing is the secretary. The lady looked at me with a smile, and said she'd be with me in a moment. The guy at her desk turned to face me and I inhaled when I realized who it was. Drew quickly turned back around, motioned with his hands and stalked out not saying one word.

"I'm sorry about that, ma'am! Drew's a little difficult sometimes." I nodded slowly waiting for her to continue. "Yeah, okay. What is it that you need, miss?"
