Zoey

Burnett and Rose burst into the clearing. Rose's eyes grew wide and she fell on her knees next to me. "Is she dead?"

I nodded. I couldn't hear her heartbeat. "Someone bit her. Vampire marks," Burnett said.

Everyone gathered around and gasped. I heard murmurs break out. Trina walked in the front. "The vampires are not to be trusted they killed our kind," She growled.

I narrowed my eyes. "Maybe she deserved it."

"You would say that right?" Trina rolled her eyes.

"Lets bring Gemma back to camp," Rose stood up.

Burnett picked her up gently. Her head lolled back. Trina narrowed her eyes. "Zoey, that's your work. You bite like that."

My eyes grew wide. "Excuse me?"

"You bite like a crescent moon. Not with your whole mouth and not just with your fangs," Trina said.

"So? It could of been a rogue vamp. We did come out of camp," I said.

Dem stared at Gemma's dead body. He couldn't take his eyes off her. Demetri finally stepped forward. "Lemme carry her," He said to Burnett.

I unfurled my wings and took off. I flew high up to a cloud. Only Light angels, could have to power to solidify clouds, so I just hovered over it. Ridley flew to me with a grin on her face. "So you killed her?"

"No," I shook my head.

"Yeah, but that is your mark."

"Yes it is but some vamps do the same. Not just me. No one in camp, but still."

"But you have motive."

"And what is that?"

"Jealousy," Ridley fluttered her wings, "'cause of Demetri."

I rolled my eyes. "I never get jealous."

"Sure. Even I do," Ridley flew down to camp.

I followed her and went into the office. I saw Perry and Dem with Rose and my old parole officer from IPU. "Just questions Zoey," Rose whispered. Her eyes were watery.

Burnett folded his arms. "She didn't do this Forbes."

"How do you know?" Forbes, my parole officer asked.

"Because we were all with her." Rose cut in. Dem was unbearably silent.

"Lets see. Perry extend your neck and wrists," Forbes said.

Perry followed what he said. I saw crescent marks on his wrists and his neck. And one on his shoulder. "There she did it."

"What?" I rolled my eyes.

"That's no proof," Burnett snapped.

"Demetrius do the same thing Perry did." Forbes folded his arms.

Dem did the same. I saw the crescent marks. Dem stared at me. "Did you do it?" He whispered.

"No." I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Your files say different Ms. Rogue. You were involved with the mob. Still are. You killed before. Werewolves especially. You were a hitwoman. Got money for it. Did drugs. You were an alcoholic. Manslaughter, I can put down this time," Forbes grabbed my arms. He snapped opal cuffs on me that was drenched in holy water. The burning came instantly. I bellowed in pain and my flesh bubbled and blistered.

"I didn't kill her!" I shouted.

"Prove it Rogue. You know the drill already," Forbes snapped and hauled me outside.

He grabbed my necklace and ripped it off. The sun hit my skin and it started to burn. Welts appeared all over my skin. I screamed in pain and tried to crawl away from the sun, but Forbes kicked my side and kept me there. My hair was a black curtain that stopped some sun from getting in my face.

Chase ran over to me. "What are you doing to her!?"

"She is accused of the death of Gemma Helmsmen," Forbes said.

I rolled my eyes and I winced against the sun's rays.

"No you have no proof. At all just the same bite marks. And she hasn't fed. Look at her veins," Chase exposed my forehead. I slumped in his hold.

He held me and grabbed my necklace. He placed it back on gently. I felt myself healing quickly. "Chase, I didn't do it."

"I know," He kissed my forehead softly.

"Fine. But you're in charge of her. Probation again," Forbes glared at me and freed me. I rubbed my wrists. They were healing slowly. I needed blood.

I saw Dem taking the cuffs from Forbes. He glanced at me with sad eyes. He shook his head slowly. My eyes darkened. I wanted to hurt him. How dare he think that I killed Gemma? Fuck him.

Forbes walked back to me. "You better watch it. Something like this happens again, you're done for."

I rolled my eyes. Chase helped me to my feet slowly. I was still weak and healing. "Yeah yeah yeah," I leaned on Chase, "Bring me to Rose's office. I need to say something."

"Alright." Chase lead me to Rose's office. I leaned against the doorframe. Rose wasn't inside, but Burnett was. He raised his head.

"Yes Zoey?"

"I'm not going to have Demetrius as a thrall anymore," I told him.

Burnett's eyes grew wide. "Um alright. I change that in the files. Who is going to be your thrall?"

"No one. I'm transitioning to blood bags."

"That's impossible," Burnett said.

I shrugged. "I'll be fine."

"Okay. Good luck."

I nodded. Chase and I walked back to my dorm. I started to get a headache. "Um so how is blood bags?"

"You tell me. They're delicious to me. I wasn't Turned though. I was um, well whenever I have human blood from the vein, I go out of control. That's why I had to fix my diet. It was hard at first, but its not as bad," Chase said, "Listen I have to meet my brothers. I'll catch you later." Chase kissed my cheek and left.

An hour later, Demetri walked in my room. My eyes narrowed. He smirked. "I thought you would need some blood," He placed his hands on my waist.

My eyes grew wide and my anger flared to life. "No! I hate this fucking hot and cold shit with you! Its not appealing."

Demetri narrowed his eyes. "I'm trying to forget what happened earlier."

"What is that suppose mean?"

"I know you killed Gemma! I saw you coming from her direction."

"That's not proof. She could of died right after I walked through there. How dare you not believe me?! I thought you wanted us to work out? Guess not. I thought I could be with a werewolf. For a few seconds I actually did, I thought I could bring myself to love again, but you're just like him! Exactly. Werewolves bring me nothing, but pain," I snarled, fangs bared.

Dem looked like I kicked his puppy out onto the street and watched the puppy die. "There's one thing I know for a fact that is wrong. I'm nothing like Elijah Clarke. I will never be that cruel. Never," He walked out the dorm and slammed the door.

I fell against my bed. Tears travelled down my cheeks. I sighed and closed my eyes.
