She opened her eyes. The stabbing in the back of her neck was unlike anything else she had ever felt in her life. The room around her was white, and unfamiliar. Everything was white, and the fluorescent lighting above her was blinding to look at. When she tried to move off of the table she was lying on, she realized that she was completely immobilized from the neck down. No matter how hard she tried to thrash around, her body would not do what her mind was telling it to do.
The room she was in smelled strongly like chemicals, the table below her was cool to the touch, and metallic. She tried to scream for help, but no noise came out. She had become a prisoner.
What felt like hours passed before there was any sign of another person. Finally, a strange looking, young man came into the room, and opened one of the cabinet cupboards, before pulling out a medical vial, that appeared to have a clear, gelatinous liquid inside. He poured the liquid contents of the vial into a needle.
While the mysterious man was filling the syringe, the girl started to panic. She had always hated needles, especially ones that size, which held unknown serums.
He came towards her, and before she could get a good look at his face, he swept her hair away from the nape of her neck, and forced the needle through the soft skin around her collarbone. She felt tingles spread across her body as the serum spread through her veins.
As soon as the contents of the vial were released into her body, the needle was removed, thrown into a garbage can, and the man left the room without saying a word.
She continued to lie on the table until eventually she could begin to regain the feeling in her toes. The feeling spread up her legs, and through her torso, before finally settling at her heart. Once her body had regained movement completely, she burst up from the table, her movements at first, a little shaky, but quickly improved. She walked over to the door that the man had walked out of minutes before. She tried the handle, but it was locked. Confused as to where she was, and why she was there, she began to search around the room, her curiosity taking the best of her.
She began throwing open cupboard doors, and rummaging through the clear vials, but couldn’t find anything that would help her figure anything out.
As she was looking through the last cupboard, she heard voices outside the door. In a panic, she threw the bottles back into the storage, and went to sit on the table. As soon as she sat down, the door began opening; slowly at first, then all at once.
To her surprise, there were two people who entered the room. A man and a woman, both seemingly no more than a few years older than herself. The woman cleared her throat, and was the first to speak.
“We’re ready for you now,” She said in an authoritative tone.
“Can you tell me where I am? Or where it is that I am going?” She replied, though she had a feeling they weren’t going to tell her anything.
“That is private information. If you behave yourself, and do as we tell you, then you will find out soon enough,” The man said with a husky voice.
Knowing that no matter what she did, they would be able to overpower her, she complied, and followed them down a narrow hallway, barely wide enough for two people to walk side by side. The two people walked at a very quick pace, she almost had to run to keep up with them. They stopped outside of a room quite a ways away from the previous room she was in. With a series of keys, and complicated devices, used by the man, the door finally swung open, revealing a large white chair, with an incredible amount of machines and wires surrounding it, along with a smaller desk and chair, this was occupied by a crippled looking, elderly man.
