I remember the day they came for me. A cold day, with frost crisp on the ground. Then it started – a door slamming, a sudden shout, and the house remained quiet. Everything seemed normal… Little did I know that in a few hours I would face a major change in my life, a change that could be the death of me… My shower ended within a few minutes and I put on my usual worn out and ripped jeans and patched jumper with my only slightly worn converse which had been mysteriously placed on my doorstep on the day of my 15th birthday. The fact that I had been left something should’ve clued me into the fact that something strange was going on but surprisingly, it didn’t cross my mind for even a second. I walked out of the bathroom and looked around the darkened house. I missed my parents… ever since the car crash I’ve been alone…

My feet thudded down on the wet pavement, drops of water splashing up with each step as I hurried to school, knowing that either way I would be late. I knew that if I told someone that I lived alone then they would take me away but I don’t want that. I like where I live because it has all the memories of my childhood. As I ran around the corner I bumped into someone, I quickly looked down in embarrassment

“S-sorry” I whispered before running around them. The person had turned around and grabbed onto my small forearm as it swung back.

“Kelly?? Kelly Gardiner?? Is that you??” the deep voice asked.

“Y-yes” I said in shock at the stranger knowing my name. Then without another word he pulled me close to him, his arms wrapping around my small waist as I felt a breeze push against me. I looked up at the man to see white torn feathery wings coming from his back before everything went black.

This brings me to the present time. After I had woken up in a large room with my head on the man’s lap there was a loud crash as windows nearby shattered as people wearing black cloaks came in through each of the 10 long windows. The man had instantly sat me up, pulling out a sword running forward as the cloaked figures ran towards us. He brought his sword around to slice two of the men in half, their blood spilling onto the floor. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t scream…  I was in shock… I then felt hands grab me and lift me up, holding me so that my feet couldn’t touch the ground.

“NO!!” I heard the man yell from where he had just sliced another 3 men in half.

“You can’t help her now Cas!!” One of the people yelled as I felt myself being lifted up higher as the roof crumbled down around and the man called Cas was left to watch as I was pulled out of view...
