"Mary!" Ratchet called, walking through the halls of the Autobot base. He needed her electrical expertise to help him with the wiring in the generator for the base. If it were something cybertronian, he wouldn't have needed her help, but this was a human problem.

"I'm coming Ratchet!" Mary called back, she was almost finished with her present for Optimus, she wanted to show her appreciation for all that he had done for her.

She walked through the base, when suddenly she heard the lights went out. She chuckled slightly when she heard Bulkhead scream girlishly, he probably thought that there were scraplets in the base again. But there wasn't, it was just really stormy outside.

Mary continued walking to where Ratchet had called her from, feeling along the wall. She did this usually, seeing as how she was blind, but it felt diferent this time. Maybe it was that she knew all of the other humans in the base were as blind as her.

Suddenly, Mary ran into something, she backed up and frowned, there wasn't supposed to be anything in this hallway... It was completely empty...

"I'm sorry Mary, are you alright?" she heard Optimus's voice say, hearing his many parts moving as he turned his head to look down at her.

She looked up in his general direction, where his vioce was coming from and nodded. She knew that he could see her, have lights and all.

Suddenly she felt something cold and hard touch her side, it was one of his didgets. She crawled onto his servo, and held tightly to his thumb. Unlike many people, blind or not, she wasn't afraid of hights. As least not when she knew it was an Autobot holding her.

Feeling him lift her to his shoulder, she crawled onto it, grabbing hold on one of his smokestacks.

"What's that you are holding Mary?" the prime asked, looking at the object she was holding tightly in her hand.

She smiled, then held it out to him, or his direction. "I made it for you, it's a mini model of Cybertron, before the war..."

An optic ridge raised, "How do you know what Cybertron used to look like?"

She tilted her head down towards her feet, embarrassed at the work she had went through to give Optimus this present, "It took a while, but I convinced Ratchet to describe how Cybertron used to look..."

"I see..." Optimus walked through the halls, going to give Mary to Ratchet so she could help fix the electricity.

Mary smiled, "I see said the blind girl..." she joked, making Optimus chuckle.

Suddenly Optimus fell to the floor, making Mary fall too. Optimus sat up, looking back to see was he had tripped over. It was just a stray cable, that he would have noticed if he hadn't been talking to Mary...

Mary! Optimus spun around and searched for the little blind girl, his eyes glowing, he looked all around.

Then he heard a groan, then a small feminine voice, "Optimus... ugh... stop spinning..."

The large bot looked on his shoulder, then vented with relief, Mary was holding tight to one of his smokestacks, but her hands were empty... The model was missing...

Optimus frowned, "Mary, did you drop the model that you made me?"

Her head tilted downward, as if she didn't want to face him. Which was odd because she couldn't see him anyway. Then she spoke, her voice sad, "Yes Optimus, I did drop it... I'm sorry, now I can't give you it..."

"It is alright Mary, I am happy that you are okay, and that is all I need..." he said, lifting his and and rubbing her cheek with one of his didgets.

"Okay... but I just wish that I could have been able to actually give it to you instead of dropping it like an idiot... a blind idiot... that's all I am..." she said, wiping tears that had started to fall off of her face.

Optimus vented, he didn't want her to be in pain, then something on the ground caught his optic. He frowned and bent down to look at the object. It was the model... but it was crushed, and nearly unrecognizeable.

"I found the model Mary..." Optimus said softly, picking up the crushed metal.

"Is it okay?" said Mary, her face lighting up with hope.

Optimus felt torn, he wanted her to be happy and think that he had found the model intact, but on the other hand he wanted to be truthful to her.

"I am sorry Mary, the model is crushed," Optimus started, handing the crushed metal to the blind girl, making her hopeful smile disappear, "But I am happy about one thing..."

"What-at Opti-timus?" Mary said, sniffling, and letting him take her into the palm of his servo.

"That it wasn't you..." he said, leaning down and presssing his lip plates to the top of her head.
