I ran as fast as I could, the screaming cries of my mother replaying in my head.'Go, run! Don't let him catch you!', my mother said tears streaming down her face, seconds before a bullet pierced her stomach. "NOOOO!"
"LIZZZZY!!!"
I opened my eyes to find my guardian, Jake, shaking me.
Jake's job was to take care of me, kind of like a body guard. Let's just say ever since the incident I've had to have extreme protection.
I looked around the room, I was 'my' room. Sky blue walls with white seashells painted on them, sea green bed sheets, oak wood floors, a walk in closet, and my white dresser.
I looked up at Jake. He's always been there for me ever since the incident. His expression softened looking at me.
I shifted my gaze to my alarm clock, 9:09
"Oh my gosh! Why didn't you wake me up earlier?!", I said as I peeled the sheets off of my sweaty body.
He ignored my question and casually walked out of the room ,"I didn't know what time your new school starts."
Knowing that he was lying but I didn't have time to argue as I ran to my connecting bathroom hopping in the shower. I quickly shampooed, conditioned, and washed my body. I dried myself and slipped on a pair of ripped jeans and a tight black t-shirt. Not forgetting to grab my backpack and flannel on the way out. I climbed in the passenger seat of the red rusty pickup.
"You take sooo long",
I rolled my eyes at his attempt to make the mood lighter.
