".... And now, here to unveil the new Keeper series, the founder of Avery Tech. Dr. Balthasar Avery!" the announcer cried out in excitement. My father broke into his million dollar smile as my mother, Dr. Raine Avery, my two older brothers Benjamin, Ethan and I stood behind him, smiling at everyone as well.
To be honest, my smile was just a façade. I never liked being in a room filled with thousands of people. Just by looking at the crowded room made me feel uneasy.
'When will this be over already?' I asked myself.
A shutter and a bright flashing light interrupted my trail of thought, and I blush as I realized that I've been looking at the crowd of people with a blank stare, while the rest of my family were posing for pictures.
Ethan noticed as my trail of thought was interrupted by the flash, and gestured me towards them. I complied, quickly shuffling myself towards them. I stood in between my mother, who was on my right and my brother, to my left. He smirked at me, much to my annoyance, before pointing at the photographers. The two of us faced the massive amount of photographers; gave our best smiles, doing so for the next few minutes before finally taking a breather.
The next few hours consisted of questions, answers and bathroom breaks. Throughout those few hours, the proud smile on my father's face never faded. I felt happy for him. I mean, who wouldn't? Even though this wasn't his first taste of success (because let's face it; he was having a banquet of success), I was pretty sure that this wasn't going to be his last.
After the unveiling of the 'Keepers', we exited the building; but before we could reach our vehicle, and drove home. Our home was an hour away from Avery Tech., and what one would see on the way would be a thick, lush forest on the right side of the road, and a crystal clear lake on the left. It was a very pretty sight, especially when the sun's light would reflect on the lake's surface, adding to the lake's splendor.
"Admiring the scenery, Ellie?" Dad suddenly asked; to which I nod in response.
He grinned, and extended a hand towards me, before messing up my light brown hair and letting out his warm, hearty laugh, making me let out a ghost of a smile as he laughed.
I spotted the gates to our house opening at the sight of our car. And once we arrive at the entrance of our house, I immediately got out of the car and head straight for my room.
I opened the door to my room, my lips curling into a small smile as I'm greeted by the sight of my bed, walking towards it sluggishly before doing a little belly flop. I grinned as I sunk on the bed, closed my eyes, and was about to fall asleep until...
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK.
I let out a loud groan as the knocking continued on, forcing me to get off of my bed and drag myself towards the door. I opened the door, only to see Ethan's grinning face behind it. I attempted to shut the door on his face, only for him to stick his foot in between to prevent it from fully closing.
"Dad wants you to go downstairs. Says it's important," he said, and as he said it, I open the door once more, curious.
"Important?" I repeated, to which he nodded in reply.
I stepped out of my room, and followed him downstairs to the living room. When we reached the living room, there sat my dad and mom on a loveseat, both of them grinning at me, and with Benjamin leaning against the wall as he gave me a small smile.
Dad gestured me to sit on the chair closest to them, and so I do, while Ethan walked towards Benjamin and leaned against the wall as well.
"Ellie," he began. "As you may know, all the androids in the Keeper series are the most state-of-the-art androids I've ever built. This means rivalling companies such as Fortune Incorporated will do everything in their power to take it away from us."
"But you've hidden it somewhere safe, haven't you? I asked.
"I have, yes, but they may have other means of taking it. So that's why I'm giving you this," he said. And as he said it, a tall, young man no older than eighteen entered the room. He was fair skinned, had platinum blonde hair which reached the back of his neck and eyes with irises as blue as the bluest sky. He had a navy blue dress shirt on, along with a pair of white acid wash jeans and black boots. He looked at my father and nodded politely, before walking up towards me.
"Ellie, meet your Keeper," Mom said with a wide grin on her face.
