Once in a land far, far away, there were two neighbors. One, a rich man, another, a modest one. each had a land behind their houses.

One day the modest man was tending to his land, when the rich man scoffed and said, "Your land will never be fruitful, and you have used the wrong seeds to plant, it is winter, and only the strongest of plants can survive."

The modest man replied, "I have faith, and patience, and hope that god will help me succeed, and if it did not work, then what damage has been applied, I will just try again with different seeds next year. Also, I do not want to be like other people, just planting avocados and other winter seeds. So long neighbor."

"Ha, your land will never bare fruit, I am sure of that, and when your's doesn't, mine will be blooming and I will sell more than anyone, seen as it is that I have the biggest, most fertile soil int the village." replied the rich man.

After a month and a half, the rich man's land proved to be true, and it bared a lot of fruit, which the rich man sold and won lots of profit, while the modest man's garden had nothing but spindly stems, which did not bear any fruit. But true to his words, the modest man planted different seeds the next winter, seeds that he has gained from his travels of the world.

After days of hard work in planting the seeds, the modest man waited, and waited. after two weeks, he woke up to find a shoot of the plants, that had little orange fruit on it, that looked a little like oranges, but not quite. after one more week, an=ll the shoots have grown, and it turned out the fruits were mandarines, that look like little oranges, but are easier to skin and juicier and sweeter to eat.

After a harvest that lasted a week, the modest man tried his luck in the market, and had made the most profit anyone has ever made that year, and so each winter, the modest man would plant the mandarines, harvest them and sell all on them in a few days because of the demand they had.

And so, after waiting and trying and having faith, he grew to be the richest man in the village, and the rich man became sick and frail, and died, while the modest man had succeeded where others had failed, and that is patience.

" Patience is Virtue "

Thank you for reading my short story, it just sprouted in my head, and I decided to write it. Patience is IMPORTANT, but sadly these days it is a rarity to find it in people.

Thanks again, and I hope you liked it.
