Alma Clearwater was a kind, gentle, sweet seventeen year old girl. But she was different from the other kids. Because of being different she was treated poorly for it. Every Day she is bullied and she has been hurt her entire life. But one day the heart of an innocent has been darken by the choices of those who had made her life miserable.
Alma never knew her father because he died before Alma was born. Her mother, Evelyn Clearwater, was locked away in the asylum because she tried to kill Alma when she was born. Evelyn believed her daughter was in danger from evil so in order to save her soul she had to kill Alma. Authorities stop Evelyn and left Alma in the care of her grandmother Elizabeth Morwall. However her grandmother wasn't the sweet and jolly old granny who makes baked cookies. Elizabeth was cruel and wicked and very strict. She was a rich woman who owned a big house on the corner of town. Elizabeth was a very strong Christian woman in the entire town and that's why no one would ever believe how cruel she is too poor Alma. She keeps Alma locked in her basement where it is wet, cold, and dark. The only time Alma can come out is for school, dinner, and prayers. Prayers is not an option. If Alma refuses to do prayers Elizabeth will beat her until she confesses all of her sins.
At school Alma treats everyone equal and is always kind and gentle with the other students and classmates. She always has her work done on time, never late to class, and she is a straight A student. Alma has no friends and she prefers it that way. She's quiet and likes to be keep to herself. But no matter how kind she is others treat her like dirt. She is bullied because she was an outcast. Living with a strict christian grandmother gives Alma limits on things. She's only allowed to wear certain types of clothing, not allowed to listen to music, and she's not allowed to have any male contact. So they bully her for the way she looks and the way she acts in society. A group of friends John Swicks, Matthew Summers, and Sarah Mills decided to follow Alma. They are planning something. But soon they shall all learn that you can only push someone so far until they finally snap.
After school Alma was taking the long way home on a trail through the woods. It was dark and Alma was walking on the trail. Trapped in her own thoughts. As she continues to walk along the trail she had a feeling as if someone was following her. She began walking faster and faster then she stopped. She was listening for any sounds of life. There was nothing but dead silence. When she turns around a man wearing a black mask threw a bucket of some kind of liquid on her. It was blood. In fear she ran as fast as she could. Her pursuers chased her through the woods. Alma noticed there were three of them. Each one was wearing a black mask. One was carrying a pipe, the second was carrying a crowbar, and the third was carrying a machete. They were swinging their weapons around while screaming and yelling. Alma ran faster and faster and faster. Her lungs burning as she is running out of breath. Alma reached a back-road and in fear she continued to run. By the time she sees the headlights it was too late. All there was left was the sound of breaking bones and squealing tires.
Alma's pursuers caught up to her. Finding her body mutilated and bloody as the truck continues to drive so fast it was no longer able to be seen. They removed their masks. Sarah was panicking not believing in what she was seeing. Matthew tried his best to comfort her and keep her calm. Then Sarah spoke "we have to get help!". In a demand John yelled "no if we call the police they'll lock us up because it's our fault that this accident happened". "Then what do you want us to do then? This was suppose to be a prank!" Matthew yelled in anger. John made a wicked smile and said "obviously it's a prank gone wrong. But I might have an idea. All we have to do is buried the evidence" John spoke as he was beginning to rise from the ground. "Are you crazy!" Sarah said in a frightened tone. "This could work" Mathew said to Sarah. As Sarah was in her thoughts she finally made a decision "Fine! Then let's get rid of her". They grabbed Alma's body and buried her in the woods. When their work was finished they began to walk their way back to their car. Hands and arms began to dig its way out of the earth. There was a whisper saying "you will never leave these woods alive."
The three friends were walking their way back. They soon realized the were lost. Being irritated the three friends began to fight among themselves. Arguing with each other on which way to go. While they were arguing there was a loud scream of a woman. "What was that?" Sarah asked shaking in terror. "I don't know" Matthew replied. In curiosity Matthew walked forward. "What is it?" John asked. Matthew replied "nothing. I thought I saw something" and in a sudden instant Matthew flew up in the air and he was gone in the darkness. Then there was a wicked woman's laughter. Frighten and scared John and Sarah were running for their lives. Sarah fell and John went back to help her. But she was starting to be pulled away. John grabbed her hand and could see nothing pulling her. He lost grip of her hand and she too was gone in the darkness. Then there was a voice whispering "How does it feel to be alone?". John turned around to start running but when he turned he realized that he was where the buried Alma. But it looks like something came out of the ground and her body was gone. There were voices, more than one, saying something but he could not understand what they were saying. Then John blacked out but when he woke he was in a hole. He looked up and he was in shock in horror for what he saw was Alma. Her skin was pale white and her eyes were pitch black. John could hear the screams and cries of his two friends. They were underground. Then John spoke "you're dead! This can't be real!". Alma smiled and said "it's real and yes I am dead. You killed me. Did you really think your crimes would go unpunished? What have I ever done to you? Even after all these years you bullied me I treated you equal and then you kill me! Now you will pay and revenge will be mine and it will be sweet". Vines wrapped around John preventing him from escaping while the dirt starts to collapse on him. Like his two friends he was buried alive. Alma started walking and she smile and said "grandmother I'm coming home. Now it's your turn to confess your sins. Then it's time for you to be put to rest". She starts giggling as each step she takes leaves a trail of burning fire behind her. The fire was the rage burning inside her all of these years. The entire woods was set to flame and Alma's soul was forever lost.
