Paige thrashed in her sleep, images of horror flashing through her mind when she jolted awake to blaring alarms and a the red light above flashing. She was half tempted to not even get up, but how could she do that? She couldn't give up. Not ever.

Pushing herself to her feet, Paige shuffled over to the metal door, and wrapped her bloody fingers around its cold handle. Letting out a visible breath in the chilly room, and ignoring the pain in her muscles, she flung it opened. Sprinting out of the room, she'd made this trek many times so it wasn't as hard to navigate. But it was still frightening. A screech here, slipping on something there, feeling the cold stone and metal walls to find her way. Only a sparse few small, red lights on the floor to guide her by sight. Even they were flashing on and off, the immensely loud alarms making it difficult to listen for any monsters trying to ambush her.

Paige stumbled a little over something unusually warm and slimy object on the ground. Not even stopping to feel it, she already knew what it was and ran away, sickened. She didn't know these people, but still they had put their life in her hands. And she had failed them.

Rounding the corner, Paige unlatched the large metal door. Stepping inside she flipped on the light switch, a large red light above. A man laid on the ground. He looked in his mid twenties or so, dark hair, muscular build. But any other details were undetectable in the dim lights. The man grumbled, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. He finally rested his gaze on her after a few groggy moments of shifting it around the room. "Who are you?"

Paige rolled her eyes, though he probably couldn't see it. "I'm Paige, we need to go." She didn't have time to waist, and explanations could be done later. "Go where?" he demanded. "A room, a lot like this." The man crossed his arms, and Paige could only assume a stubborn look on his face. "Why don't we just stay here then?"

Paige walked slowly up to the man. "What's your name?" "Jared" She got in his face. "Ok, Jared. You see those doors right there?" she asked, pointing to the double doors on the other side of the room. "Those doors will open in five minutes, and when they open, that door over there will lock us in. Trust me when I tell you, you really don't want to know what comes out of them. Where I am going is the only place that is safe. If you don't want to come, thats fine. But have fun dying"

She didn't give him a moment to respond, turning around and bolting out the door she had come in. Paige heard the door open and close behind her, letting her know that Jared had chosen to follow her.

"Stick to the walls, its hard to see in here. If you here something, go the other way. But DON'T, Lose me." She turned around, and set off, feeling the walls and dashing between the red lights on the ground. She heard the regular hisses and groans of monster. But sure enough, maybe half way back, Jared let out a scream of terror. Whirling around, Paige didn't see him, reaching out, she didn't feel him either. "Damn it!"

Having explored this place a little, and making this trek so many times, Paige for confident in her mapping skills of the dark halls. She pelted down the hall, following the sound of Jared, making a right, then a left, and then two more rights before she slid around the corner. Spotting the guy on the ground, illuminated by red. A grey, bulbous, disfigured creature hovering over him. "Hey!" The creature barely noticed her. So she swung her foot at it, landing a hard blow somewhere on it, and flinging it off of Jared. "Get up!" Paige grabbed his arm and yanked him to his feet, not letting go of his arm, she started running.

With thuds and ear piercing screeches, wails, and scrapping on the walls, Paige knew they had alerted the rest of them. "Come on!" Paige yelled, half talking to herself. Yes, up ahead, she could just make out the red light inside the room. Running harder, and faster, feeling Jared stumble behind her and heard the creatures just behind him, she ignored the pain. Slamming against the door, Paige flung Jared inside, sending him rolling on the floor. A creature launched inside the room, it was a small one. So she grabbed it around the neck and shoved it out, slamming the door behind it.

"Wha...what now?" Jared asked, standing up and rubbing his scraped elbows.

Paige leaned against the door, breathing heavy. "I...I don't know. You're the first one."

"First one to what?"

She leveled her gaze with his in the dark room. "The first one to make it"
