The wind whisped passed me as I chanted. My hair flying around my face, my arms in the air. This was the test. To determine my fate. Whether I was good, or bad. I heard a scream.
"Mathilde!"
I opened my eyes to see a figure. I focused on it more. It was Alexis.
"Get away! You can't be here!" I screeched.
"Leave!"I saw tears roll down her cheeks, she quickly smacked them away.
Faintly, I heard her say "No."
I couldn't break out of the circle, for who knows what would happen. I needed to complete this. I needed to know what my fate was. Everyone thinks I'll become like my mother. Evil. Bad. A killer.
"Mathilde! Please!" She was closer. "This doesn't define who you are!"
I laughed. My cackles screeching through the room. "But it does. If I'm evil, there's no stopping me. I want to be good. But we can't have everything we want."
That's when the tears started to come. I don't cry. Big girls can't cry. I couldn't move my hands from where they were in the air to smack them away. I couldn't leave the circle to run away. I had to stay in here and complete this.
Next thing I saw was Alexis reaching her hand out, and then pure blackness.
