He smiles "That's amazing." He has the same expression on his face as my father when he saw me first change, light in his eyes and hope. He was proud of me at the sight.

I feel stabbed in the chest bringing back that memory.

"Are you alright?" Travis asks.

I notice I have closed my eyes going through the memory.

"My eye was irritated!" I reply sternly hoping he isn't suspicious of that behavior."We should head to the forest so we have shelter when night comes."

He doesn't reply but follows me as I walk toward it.

By instinct I flap my wings and lift of ground to speed up pace.

"I'm human I can't fly."

I go back to ground even though not flying irritates me because of the slow pace we go. I try to talk to him to corrode the discomfort inside me. "How did your village get raided and may I ask and by who?"

I'm still in too much pain to tell anyone.

Surprisingly he replies,"I-I was busy playing with my friends." His mood changed really quick he went from relaxed to a almost nervous speech."I saw something dark, as if a shadow but darker," When he says that he looks like he is in deep concentration, he squints. "t-they, they looked like wolves. The shadow of wolves but darker. I-I," He clears his throat. " I-I saw my brother die before me." He spat those words out as quick as a lightning fae. The quickest creature in the land. I was lucky enough to catch one and talk to it for a while.

He now talks normally but slower and still squinting,"I saw a woman. Young, her skin whiter than snow her hair darker than charcoal. She wore a black dress long enough to drag on the floor but short enough that when she lifted her arms you could her black shoes. She had shadows surrounding her and there was a few wolves guarding her. The wolves of  shadow seem to pounce on you and you're immediately gone. S-she glared at me which lasted not even half a second but to me it was long torture. I immediately ran, I ran as fast as I could, n-not even looking back onto ruins of which my village was becoming. I ran until night came and I was so tired I fell to sleep without hesitation next to a flowing river."

Everything about the raid sounded so similar that I even knew who it was who attacked so I responded,"Shadow Queen."  I look down to my hands to see that both of them are shaking and so are his. "She raided my village too, I also ran away knowing everyone I knew are most probably dead or dying."

A tear rolls down my cheek and I try to remain poker-faced.

"She casted darkness into the remaining light I had within me."
