Chapter eight

"I'm really sorry about your arm" Lauren said again while we were sitting at the dining room table.
"It's fine" he said rubbing his hurt arm.
My uncle laughed and my aunt hit him.
"Okay who wants to say blessing?" My mom asked taking her seat at the table.
"Why doesn't Sky do it?" Sadie asked.
"No I'm fine" I said.
"Sky" my mom said looking at me with that sky I ain't playing with you, you're embarrassing me look.
So needless to say, I began saying grace, "God, thank you for joining us here together today and bless this food and the body's who are going to receive it, amen" then everyone said amen, and we began eating.

After the awkward silence and burnt bread, everyone went to different parts of the house. Well except for my uncle Larry and aunt Debra, they went out to the R.V. Lauren and I were sitting in my room going through all my old stuff I had left here. Then my mom knocked on the door, "Can I come in?"
She asked.
"Sure" I replied then the door slowly creaked open and she walked in.
"Can I talk to my daughter for a moment?" she asked looking at Lauren. Lauren sat down the photo album she was going  through and got up, "Sure" she said and walked out slowly closing the door behind her.
She walked around looking at the pictures on my walls as if they were new.
"I'm glad you came this weekend" she said without looking at me.
"I contemplated on coming" I replied.
"I bet you did," she walked over and sat down on my bed across from me, "I know we didn't leave off on a good note."
"Ya think?" I asked.
"Don't be like that, Sky."
I let out little laugh, "I love how yet to apologize".
"Is that really why you're still mad? Because I haven't apologized?"
"You told me you were done with me mom, how am I supposed to feel?!?!?!" I replied raising my voice a little.
"Ever since you were born I loved you, and yes, I may have over reacted, but you don't understand how it felt when I found out you were gay. When you told me that it hit me, I would never get grandchildren."
"I could give you grandchildren but not if you push me out of your life!"
"Not real grandchildren" She said it quick almost as if ripping off the band aid but it still hit hard. No one said anything for a moment. She stood up and rubbed her hand over my comforter, flattening it.
"Is Lauren your girlfriend?" She asked. I nodded and then she just walked out and closed my door. I felt tears in my eyes, I wasn't sure if I was angry or sad. After a few seconds Lauren walked in and ran up to me, sitting down and putting her arm around me while I cried.
