Moving On - A Shyler Fanfiction

Shannon sat alone in her home crying beside the Christmas tree. It was Christmas eve and Tyler was unsure if he was going to make it home that night. After a nine moth tour he had finally finished his last show in Leeds and now he was being held up in Washington with no guarantee of a flight home. Tears welled up every time she remembered her phone conversation with him.

*Flashback*

"Darling, I've got some bad news." Tyler whispered as his voice cracked. It was obvious he was on the brink of crying.
" What is it? I just set up the tree and I'm getting ready to make some cookies for us. Your favourite kind." Shannon said in a sing song voice. She was extremely excited to get him back home. Especially to get him before her favourite day of the year. She didn't know how quickly her dreams would be shattered in the following minutes.
"Well Shannoon, I...I don't know how to break this to you but..." Tyler sighed and wiped away his falling tears as he completed his sentence. "There is no guarantee I can come home tonight and make it home for Christmas." Tyler winced as he heard Shannon drop whatever was in her hand and he could imagine her crumpling into a ball on the floor. "
"Tyler, you promised. I just cant deal with this right now Tyler." Those were her last words before abruptly hanging up.

End of Flashback

Tyler sat in misery. These chairs were uncomfortable and his girlfriend was alone. He hated his job sometimes, it was keeping him back from spending time with the love of his life. It was tiring but when he saw his fans it all seemed worth it. However this was not one of those times, he was desperate to propose to Shannon and if he didn't make it home tonight, that would never happen. He stood up with renewed determination. He approached the woman at the desk and inquired about getting a plane for all these people that need to come home. She explained that there was a plane, however there were no employees available due to them getting ready to leave. Tyler immediately jumped into action telling this woman that he would pay them twice as much to prepare this plane for flight.

When she returned she had told Tyler that that the workers had agreed. While he was waiting he contemplated calling Shannon but decided against it. He wanted to make it a surprise, hopefully she wasn't too upset. In only thirty minutes past nine o'clock the plane was fueled and cleaned. The ride home was going to be long and packed full of excitement.

Meanwhile Shannon shad decided that she would not let this news ruin Christmas. Tyler would be home by Christmas and she would carry out their traditions at that time. So she decided to put herself in a happy mood. She decided to play some good music and change into some warm, not tear soaked clothing. So after changing she began to make her cookies. After baking and decorating the cookies she made some hot chocolate with marshmallows. She sat in her living room and watched wonderful Christmas movies.

Around one thirty in the morning the door slammed shut. Shannon stealthily walked to the door. As she turned the corner she was met with a sight she never expected, Tyler. Tyler had taken out his guitar and was playing 'Follow You' by Bring Me The Horizon. Shannon burst into tears, she could never imagine a sight more perfect, but it got better as he finished the song and got down on one knee. "Shannon I love you, more than anything on earth. You have stuck with me through three years, even if I wasn't here for that last one. Regardless, I have loved you since our first date. Every day since then I have fell deeper and deeper in love with you. I know I am more than willing to d anything for you, if you could just answer me this one question. Shannon Taylor, will you marry me?" At this point all Shannon could do was cry and nod. Tyler quickly slipped the ring on her finger before carrying her further into the house. They resumed watching movies, eating cookies and drinking hot chocolate
