We walked down the long, narrow corridor with purpose. The three men in front of me, walked in single file, towards a door at the end of the long hallway. The men slowed when they reached the door, and, the man in front turned toward me.

“Are you ready Sean?” He asked politely. I was worried by his question. Why would he ask Iif I’m ready. What’s on the other side of this door.

I realized all eyes were turned towards me, and, they were waiting for me to reply.

“Uh, yea, I’m ready. Let’s go I suppose,” I joked nervously.

I followed the three Army Generals slowly through the door, into a white walled room. I looked around  in shock, when I realized how many people were standing in the room. There was well over twenty different people standing in this room, and all of them had their eyes focused strongly on me. I felt a sudden amount of pressure fall on my shoulders.

“Sean. How are you? How was the flight home? The pilots not too rough on you?” An elderly looking man queried, as he moved up toward the front of the groud of soldiers gathered into this small room.

I laughed nervously again, not sure if he knew that I was the one who flew the jet here.

”Yea, the trip was… Okay, I suppose. Umm, I flew the jet back, so, the pilots really weren’t much of a hassle,” I stated awkwardly in reply.

“Yea? Why did you fly it back?” He returned his question, with a harsh tone present in his voice.

Luckily for me, Zoe butted in.

“Uh, sir, I think you need to be de-briefed on our last assignment before you ask anymore questions.”

Wow, life saving sentence. The man speaking looked at me again, apology and guilt present clearly in his eyes.

“I’m sorry Sean, I was out of place with my previous question,” the man stated apologetically.

“No, no. It’s okay. Honestly,” I heard myself saying, not even realizing I had spoken.

“Allow me to introduce myself. I am the commander of this organization, Captain Michael Shooter. And, this-“ He waved his hand around the room, signaling the rest of the people gathered there, “- Is the rest of the American National Security Detachment.”

I looked around the room, suddenly realizing I was in the presence of an American Military squad, not unlike the one I am a part of.

“We have brought you here,” Captain Michael resumed, “because you are a person of extreme importance to the American Nation. We need your help. That is why we rescued you from that prison.”

“You need my help?” I butted in disrespectfully. “What use can I possibly be in to you?”

“Well, Sean. What you don’t know about America, is that we are at war.”

I resisted the urge to butt in again, but, when the Captain continued with his speech, I kept my mouth shut.

“We are at war with France,” He stated coldly.

That came as a big shock to me. I always thought of France to be one of Americas political allies, and definitely not one of our enemies. I looked around the room, realizing now something I hadn’t before. Every man and women in this room, had some kind of battle scar on them, and, a lot of them still had open wounds visible. I realized, we are at war. This is as serious as it gets.

“France?” I heard myself ask. “I thought America and France are Allies.”

“Officially, we are. But, France has always been jealous of our power, and, six months ago, they made a claim for it. Frances’ Prime Minister was seen making agreements with terrorists, and, the terrorists as well as some of the French Special Forces groups, attacked an American SAS base in north eastern Qatar. Since that day, America and France have been attacking eachothers bases, causing the most damage possible.”

“Okay, but, how does this have anything to do with me?” I pondered aloud.

“Because, you are trained in all aspects of the American Military, and are very capable of obtaining evidence by mere observation, much more capable than a lot of other soldiers in America.”

“That still doesn’t explain why exactly I am such a key part in this war,” I stated coldly, confused as hell.

“You, my friend, are in the very middle of this war, because of your pretty little girlfriend.”
