Chapter //1
Savannah's p.o.v (point of view)
"You know, Savannah, I am going to murder that principal of ours if he plans on keeping us after school for some lame volunteering work, which by the way I did not sign up for" grumbled Fleur.
"Oh stop moaning Fleur, why are you even complaining? While the rest of us were actually working, you were busy flirting with that really cute freshman. Did you get his number?" I asked jokingly as we exited the school and began walking back home. I hugged my red coat closer to my body trying to block out the cold wind and rubbed my hands together to create some heat.
It was snowing quite alot, as if there wasn’t enough snow on the roads as it is. The sky was quickly becoming dim, making it look like a mixture of purple and blue. Unsurprisingly the roads were deserted and there was not a car to be seen. The streetlights were already lit up and due to the fact it was around Christmas time, it was becoming dark really quickly.
I signed both Fleur and I for this volunteering work at school since neither of us actually have anything better to do. I didn't really expect her to do anything but hey; she can at least get some credit for putting her name up for volunteering. Fleur is that stereotypical head cheerleader and unfortunately the second most popular girl in our high school. This being unfortunate because her ego is big enough. I on the other hand, prefer books rather than gossiping or fashion, but that doesn't mean I'm a nerd.
"Yes, I obviously got his number. I'm not a moron you know? Can you please wait up? You are walking a bit too fast." moaned Fleur.
"I'm not walking any faster; it's just you who can barely walk at all. It's not my fault you decided to wear high heels, especially when there's snow everywhere. I can barely walk wearing my combat boots. Now can you hurry up? It's becoming dark and I definitely don’t want to lose my virginity to some random drunk on the street" I complained getting goosebumbs. Talking about some drunk on the road that could possible rape you is definitely not a pleasant topic to talk about, especially when there’s only the two of us and there's no one about.
"You had to mention that bit didn't you?" she retorted back. Fleur obviously frightened by the thought, quickened her pace, therefore, resulting in her to slip and fall down. "Aw man, I'm freezing completely now. My ass is completely drenched with snow and I probably look like a walking icicle now. A little bit of help Sav?" she asked me.
I turned around and rolling my eyes, I helped her up. "Again, your fault. Who decided to wear a long sleeved shirt with a freaking mini skirt?" I questioned her.
"Hey, I have to keep up my appearance you know? Being popular is hard work, not that I’m complaining." she laughed.
I grabbed her arm and started walking carefully so that neither of us would slip and fall. We reached our neighborhood without any accidents fortunately. Until Fleur whispered to me that two men in black suits with black shades on, were following us. Now, one lesson that my mama taught me was to run if you see men with black shades on. So, obviously I ran for my life, poking my hand into my pockets and taking out the keys. I hurriedly put in the keys, opened the door, shut the door and locked it. Only then, did I finally breathe. I took of coat and hung it on the coat hanger and slipped off my boots. I heard someone banging on the door and a bunch of cuss words following it.
"Open the fucking door Savannah, you crazy bitch, they are entering our fucking garden! Oh lord save my fucking soul" Fleur screamed out.
I rushed to the door and opened it, grabbing Fleur and pulling her inside the house and slamming the door shut and locking it again to make sure no one would come in. I pushed a cupboard right in front of it to reassure myself.
