"I'm just saying Al, Scorpius is better at Quidditch then you. I'm sorry I told you the truth," I say as we wait for Auntie Ginny to serve breakfast.
"James, tell Rose she doesn't know what she's talking about," Al says looking smugly over at James who is starting his 4th year at Hogwarts.
"I can't say that Rose doesn't know Quidditch, because she would kill me if I even thought that," he whispers loudly and messes up Albus's hair.
My eyes shoot up as a soft pecking comes from the kitchen window.
"Rose can you go check out what that is?" Auntie Ginny asks, as I am already halfway across the room.
I open up the window barely able to keep the smile from my face. There are two owls, a white snowy one and a dark speckled barn owl, sitting on the windowsill one has three letters the other two. I look over at Albus and James gives a slow nod as I grab our letters. "Hey Lil, Hugo come in here," Albus says and they walk in.
"No way!" Lily yells as she runs to the window and snatches the envelope from the owl's talon.
"It finally came," Lily Potter shouts.
"Yes! My Hogwarts letter," Hugo says grabbing one of the envelopes from Lily.
"Why wouldn't it come? Both our parents are wizards" I ask as Lily and Hugo rip them open like presents.
"Congrats little sis I hope to see you in Gryffindor," James says.
"But there's nothing wrong with Slytherin, or any of the other houses," Al (Albus) says quickly. I knew exactly what he was talking about, Al is in Slytherin. Both James, my best friend Alice, and I are Gryffindor and then Al and Malfoy are in Slytherin.
"Any house is fine, Lily," Uncle Harry says as when he comes in, "Same for you, Hugo." I go back to the table and sit down.
"Hugo, Rose, your mom and dad are picking you up soon, make sure you don't lose that letter Hugo," Ginny says.
"Please Aunt Ginny he has a color coordinating obsession and everything how could he lose it," I say and Albus snickers.
"Reminds me of your mum," Uncle Harry laughs and Hugo beams. I turn around mess up Hugo's curly red hair.
"Any way Al just admit it Scorpius is better than you," I say returning to our previous conversation.
"Scorpius Malfoy?" Uncle Harry inquires and I cough turning a little pink.
"I've seen that Malfoy play and he's good, he doesn't miss a buldger unless Rose throws it, " James says. My ears flush bright red.
"That's besides the point," I protest,"You can barely get one pass in James."
"Why are you defending him?" Albus asks smirking.
"Hugo, Rosie are you ready?" Dad's voice calls. Saved yet again.
I go upstairs and grab my stuff.
"Rose tell me, before-," Al asks.
"I need to go, Albus see you Wednesday at Diagon Alley," I say grab my stuff from the guest room.
"Rose tell me why are you defending Malfoy. The only time last year you ever paid attention to him was at Quidditch games and a nod in the corridors. What's wrong?" Albus says.
"Malfoy is kinda my friend, ok!" I say and rush down the stairs annoyed by all of the questions.
"Are you ready Rosie?" Dad asks and I walk out to the car with my head spinning.
"Rose, are you ok?" Mom asks as Hugo gets in the car.
"I'm fine Albus wouldn't let go of a subject," I sigh.
"The subject was her boyfriend, Scorpius Malfoy!" Hugo taunts and I kick his shin.
"Shut up Hugo or you won't get the chance to go to Hogwarts!" I threaten. "Rose!" Mom scowls but I don't listen.
"Shut up about Malfoy or you'll get it!" I shout.
"Rose Jane Weasley!" Mom shouts as Dad gets in the car.
"Just drive us home dad, please," I say and dad starts the car silently.
"Ron!" She scowls and he stops the car.
"Dad, Rose likes a pure blood," Hugo says.
"Say that again, Hugo," I say and give him the stink eye,"Just drive home."I wake up and brush the dark red hair out of my face before I hear banging on my bedroom door.
"Rose we're going to Diagon Alley today!" Hugo yells from outside my room, not daring to come inside after what happened yesterday.
"I've been up, Hugo," I lie and change into a blue and red flannel shirt with jeans. "Come on Clementine," I say to my orange tabby cat and she brings me my wand. Rosewood with Dragon Heartstring and slightly flexible, my mum says it's powerful but I'm not really into wand history.
"Good girl," I say and pet the top of her head as she starts to purr.
"Rose breakfast is ready," Mom says, and I go to the kitchen.
"Do you guys have your list?" She asks and we nod.
"Good we are meeting the Potter's before we go to Diagon Alley. Then we will meet the Longbottom's and you guys can break off with any of your other friends," Mom says reading over her list.
"Sounds good," I say digging into my breakfast, toast with marmalade and bacon. Hugo sits down across from me and starts eating like a pig. I look up at him and scrunch my nose.
"Slow down," I warn him as Dad sits down at the table.
After we finish eating we hop into the car and head to the Leaky Cauldron. "Hi Mrs.Longbottom," I say as we walk in.
"Hello Rose, Alice is already in Diagon Alley with Sam and their father," she says and I nod. We walk around to the back. Uncle Harry walks up to a wall and taps a certain brick three times with his wand and the wall quivers. Hugo and Lily watch in amazement as the wall turns into an archway revealing the cobbled street that is Diagon Alley. We walk in a big group and stores line the sides of the streets. People rush by to get everything they need with owls and cats swirling through the air and brushing against ankles. I hear Lily gasp as she tries to take it all in.
"Alright first we need to make a quick stop at Ollivander's for Hugo and Lily," Mom reminds everyone. Albus, James, and I ignore her as we run over to Broomstix to look at the new model. The Lightning Strike, it's a beauty, sleek design and who knows how fast you can go on that thing.
"I need to get my hands on that, Scorpius wouldn't see me coming on it and Gryffindor would dominate everyone," I say and James nods.
"James, Albus, Rose, come on," Auntie Ginny calls and we go back and join them. James waves to Liam Thomas and his dad then heads over to him once Uncle Harry gives him the money he'll need. I look around for Alice, her brother, Sam, and Professor Longbottom. I see a white haired boy, Malfoy, and can't help but smirk a little.
"There she is," Albus says and we head over to Alice.
"Rose!" She squeals and wraps me in a hug and then she sends Albus a small smile. She lets go of me and I see she hasn't taken her eyes off Al. Something's up between them and I'm going to find it out. Does my best friend like my cousin or vice versa?
