I look into a pet store and smile at all the happy kids getting their first owl. As I whistle for my own owl, who swoops in between the people screeching happily before landing gracefully on my shoulder, I see not only my best friend Rose Wesley but her whole family too, including the Potters! I run over towards her leaving my dad with Sam looking at broomsticks.
"Hi!" I squeal as Rose runs towards me and we hug each other happily.
"Hi!" She says pulling back smiling. I wave at her parents and others as they walk towards us.
"I see you brought the whole family," I say smiling.
"As always," she replies rolling her eyes. I laugh as she sticks out her tongue teasingly.
I look back over her shoulder and see Albus, Mr. Potter's son and smile at him. He quickly returns the smile and jogs a little bit in front of everyone then turn my attention back to Rose who was talking about Hugo's new owl and how he can't stop talking to it.
"Hey look at this new wand I got at Ollivander's," I say pulling the wand out of my pocket and picking up Clementine, Rose's cat and handing the wand to Rose.
"It's made of a single Phoenix tear and a dragon scale. " I say proudly looking over at Rose seeing that she was staring at a white haired boy. Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco Malfoy. I don't hate him but I certainly strongly dislike him and same for him to me it he is Albus's friend. I know Rose kinda likes him but I don't understand why. I glance back leaving Rose in her daydream, hopefully not drooling, and slow down till I'm walking with Albus.
"Did you get a new wand?" He asks smiling crookedly remembering me accidentally putting all my books on it in the middle of potions class, therefore breaking it in the silence. I shudder at the remembrance.
"Yea," I say blushing a little. He's so thoughtful.
"What's it made of?" he asks extending his hand for permission to hold it.
"Phoenix tear and hickory," I say proudly hand it to him as we pass the Joke Shop, I stop suddenly with Albus quickly following, quickly handing me back my wand.  I walk inside Weasly's Wizard Wheezes while tucking my wand in my back pocket and look around the shop that Rose's uncle owns. I see George standing behind the counter with his eyes glazed over. I know he's thinking about Fred so I leave him alone and walk around the store. I notice that Albus has wondered over towards the love potions, I feel my face turn red and look away.
After we leave the store I see Sam and Dad heading our way. Sam has a package on his hands, probably a new broomstick but I don't know why. Sam and I get an allowance but Sam spend every last coin, I'm the saver, and I doubt Dad would get him a new broom.
So I walk over towards them waving goodbye to Albus and Rose who had joined him.
"Alice," Dad starts off in his 'I love you so much and please don't tell your mother about this' voice, "What did you do," I say panicking looking around for any signs of a plant apocalypse.
"Ummm-" Dad starts off, "Here, please don't get mad," Sam says wincing as he hands me the package. I move towards one of the few empty benches and unwrap the package. There before me lays a broken broom. My broom. I look up at my brother and father and try to blink back my tears.
I got this broomstick at my first game from my mom. I like to think of it as my lucky broom. I stand up and melt into the crowd. Hot tears stream down my face earning me some concerned looks but I just trudged on until I am forced to stop by a dead end.
I quickly look around and rush towards the first store I see, a small yellow brick cottage- looking shop with the sweet scent of fruit and chocolate flowing from an open window. A little chime goes off as I step slowly inside. I look around in wonder. The walls are a light pink color with dark brown couches and chairs around the room. The walls are covered with shelves holding all the colors you can think of, of chocolates. I look around in awe. I instantly am in love with this place.
"Hello welcome to Brooke's Sweet Shop!" A happy voice calls. I get goose bumps. It's one of those super sweet grandma-like voices. They always freak me out.
"I am Brooke. Please let me know if you want any help," She says once I finally focus on her, standing behind a counter I hadn't noticed before.
"Okay thank you." I say wondering around.
After I purchase a few things I leave the store and look for my parents and Sam. Almost everyone has left except for a few families, including the Potters. I walk over to them and see Albus looking at some cloaks, probably for the Honorary Yule Ball.
"Hello Alice. Why are you still here, I thought I saw you family leave a little while ago?" Mr. Potter asks me.
"I got lost." I lie, I don't want to admit that my brother and father broke my broom and I ran off like a small child.
"We'll take you home then." Mrs. Ginny says.
I smile gratefully at them, "Thank you very much," I say as Albus, James, and Lily walk towards us talking and smiling.
Albus and I talked all the way to my house. I think James and Lily got bored and annoyed with us gushing over our favorite quiddich players and authors and different things about the Ministry of Magic.
Finally as my house pulls up into view I am kinda sad to be leaving.
"Bye and thank you for the ride!" I say getting out of the car.
"Wait," Albus says right before I close the door, "I'll walk you to the door." He says unbuckling his seatbelt.
I smile and wait for him in front of the car, "Thanks." I say.
"For what? Walking a friend down a side walk so no murders come and kill you?" He asks innocently.
"No!" I say laughing, "It's just the fact that you'll never hear then end of it from Lily and James." I say stoping on my doorstep.
"Eh. I can live with it," he says smiling and putting his hands in his pockets. I smile back at him and we just stand there like that for a while.
"Umm well I'll see you on the train," he says clearing his throat before running off towards his car. I laugh and watch him get to the car and see him turn back and smile at me. I smile back and then unlock the door and walk in only to be greeted by a very annoyed mother and guilty father.
