" Relax, things like that happen, Ok? Don't be like this. Get on with your life like you always do. Hey, people will forget about it. So don't go on fretting. "

Arghhhh! Why don't the people who say those words to me understand the situation I'm going through? It is not easy to do what they say. Certainly not after what happened last Thursday ( possibly the most embarrassing day in my life ).

That fateful day started just like any other day. Everything seemed to be running smoothly until I saw him, Adam. The love of my life and he does not even know it. Adam, with his dark intense eyes that pierced right through my soul and smooth raven hair that falls lightly in front of his face, complementing his fair skin and cute lips. My mouth practically gaped open when he walked in front of me and flash his dazzling smile. I quickly turned away before he saw me blush. By the way I am describing him, you will obviously realise that I simply adore him. To me, he is the model of perfection and the finest guy ever to walk the face of the earth. Unfortunately, he also happened to be the most sought after guy in school and as for me, I am a nobody. So somehow I must get him to know me. I know my chances are next to none, but I will take my chances anyway. You will never know what the future has in store for you, right?

After much consideration, I finally made up my mind. The plan is that I would write him a letter and then I would give it to him through my friend, Camelia. After that, all I have to do is wait and pray for his reaction. Ah.... simply brilliant!

So, I wrote the letter. Believe me, if I told you what I wrote in that letter, you would think me as a hopeless romantic or the female incarnation of modern day Shakespeare. In short, I simply exposed my feelings and opened my heart to him. But still, I kept my wits together so that I would not sound stupid or desperate for him. I would not want to chase him away with premature commitment!

When I finished writing the letter, I passed it on to Camelia. But whether it was a slip of fate or sheer bad luck. I did not know, as the letter never reached Camelia. Instead, it fell into the hands of my greatest enemy, Hugo Bass. But I prefer to call him Evil Hugo or Stupid good-for-nothing Hugo ( actually you can him whatever you want, as long as it is bad and shows the real him - well, he is my enemy ). I can even picture him receiving that letter. His eyes would shine with a mysterious evil light and his mouth would form the infamous lopsided grin, just like it always does when there is something playing in his mind. It was frustrating to wait with anxiousness whether Adam would accept or reject me.

In class, I was restless and I kept glancing at the door, half-expecting Camelia to burst in any minute. When she finally appeared, her expressions were not of excitement, but rather guilt-stricken and afraid. " Adryna, I have something to tell you." She never got the chance to complete her sentence when a familiar voice boomed out of the school's public address system.

" A very good morning I bid to all. Today I would like to share with you the words of a real-life pathetic lover to someone she adores. I present ... ( drumroll ) ... Adryna's love letter to Adam! "

Oh My God ! Realisation and despair hit me like a thunderbolt, shredding my heart to pieces and leaving me dumbfounded for a while. Then, my mind jerked back to reality.

" Adam, to me, the sun and moon rise in your eyes to shine my lonely days and nights. Do you know that when you smile, the birds would feel that they no longer have to sing. Or is it that I fail to hear their songs because I am so entranced by you ... "

My knees felt weak and I could feel the blood rushing to my face. At that moment, I felt the fierce need to cover my head with a paper bag. I was so embarrassed and angry that if Hugo was in front of me, he would get a really tight slap on that pimply face of his.

" No matter how much I try to suppress this feeling inside, I still fell that I'm falling for you. It doesn't matter what you say or do because it is true. "

How much more am I going to be punished? What am I going to do now when I can clearly see everything crumble before me?

" So with this letter, I send you all my love and a piece of my heart ... "

I am as good as dead now. After this, nothing will be the same again. Knowing the terrible truth, my head dropped and my shoulders slumped in defeat.

After Hugo finish reading my letter ( or was it my death sentence? ), the whole school roared with uncontrollable laughter. They laughed until tears streamed down their cheeks. I tried to cover my ears but the sound was overwhelming. I felt hot tears stinging my eyes. Unable to stand it any longer, I ran out of the class, away from their mocking faces.

Then, as if I have not had enough, I stumbled and fell flat on my face. The people around laughed even harder and Rachel, a fanatic photographer in my class who carries a camera wherever she goes to catch the ' beautiful and special ' moments, even took my picture.

With that I succeeded effortlessly in establishing myself as the laughing stock of the entire school for the next hundred years. I'm practically a living legend - the clumsiest romantic clown ever to walk the halls of Old Trafford High School!

Since that Thursday, I have never attended school again. One week has passed and people have been trying to get me to go to school. The telephone kept ringing and those people, especially Camelia, never gave up. I know that what they are saying is true but I am still not ready to face the entire school, especially Adam. Then, for the umpteenth time, the telephone rang. Quickly, I picked it up and answered with my most menacing voice.

" Just stop bothering me! "

" Erm... hello? Adam. It's Adam, " answered a voice.

What! Adam?

" Sorry, I thought you were somebody else. "

" It's all right. Am I calling at a bad time? I've been calling for the past week but I can't seem to get through. Your line is always busy. "

" Oh, probably it is just Camelia. So, why did you call? " I said, trying to sound cool even when my heart is beating so wildly that I feared Adam could hear it.

" I just wanted to tell you that I heard all about the letter "

" Of course you did. It was read out loudly through the public address system. "

He was silent for a while on the other line.

" Adryna, I want you to know that I feel exactly the same way "

I was speechless . Totally speechless .

" Wh.. what? "

" I have been waiting to tell you this for a long time. But, I was afraid that you will hate me for it "

" No, I can never hate you, " In fact, I am madly in love with you.

" Adryna, can I say something? "

" Sure. "

" I love you, Adryna. "

Gasp!

" Adryna? Hello? Are you still there? "

I was in utter disbelief and speechless. I could only managed a barely audible sigh, but I know he would understand. All the hurt and shame experienced earlier were washed away when he uttered the three magic words. Now I feel that what had happened was a blessing in disguise. It was meant to turn out that way because everything happened for a reason.

As for what happens between me and Adam, after that call, I really cannot say. Well, you really do not know what the future has in store for you, right?
