Project 13(Moonfire)

I'm 15. My brother, Finny, left us. He left Kyle, our younger brother, and I, his younger sister. It's annoying. I've been taking experiments meant for Kyle and letting them do it to me. More often then not, the experiments are just trials for enhancers that should be permanent. Now, I've had six different permanent effects injected. Eagle eyes, super speed, super strength(like Finn), super intelligence, the DNA of a super-rare strawberry-blonde sand panther(A/N:from what I know, this species doesn't actually exist), and the DNA of a common raven. I guess they are going to sell me to a circus as a new species sooner or later. Kyle only was given the same permanent enhancer as Finn. Since the injections of both DNAs, I started growing black feathered wings like a raven, a slim, strawberry-blonde tail like the panther, and sharply pointed tips on the strawberry-blonde panther ears. I'm glad that I took the injections for those, I don't ever want the public to stare at him like he's a freak.
"Project 13, it's time for the circus to come pick you up," a messenger tells me as a guard undo the chains around my body.
"Wait! Can't my brother come as well? His project number among the scientists is number 14. His name is Kyle. Can he come with me? Please?" I plead, trying to make sure Kyle stays with me.
"Wait a minute," the messenger pauses, talking to someone through a phone after dialing a number. "Well, darling ... the boss says yes. He doesn't want to separate siblings. He's picking up a boy who the men say have a younger sister and an older sister, but the men don't want to let us take the siblings as well. You and your brother may be helpful in getting the two sister."
I smiled, tears starting to stream down, responding with, "Yay! Thank you, sir!"
The man nodded. The guard unlocked the cell next to mine and opened the door. I grabbed the keys to the chains and rushed in to unlock them. Once I'm finished, I lifted my brother to his feet and tossed the keys back to the guard. The messenger walked towards the outside, Kyle and I following him. As we walked out a door, the bright sunlight glared at us as we stood on a yellow brick building, looking out on a desert. I glanced ahead, seeing a caravan with many other trucks at an oasis. I grabbed and squeezed my brother's hand. The man snaked himself, then spread out wings I didn't know he had. I spread mine out and held my brother closely. The guy jump, flying towards the caravan. I followed, holding my brother's body under mine, letting him put his legs around mine and his arms around my back. I flipped myself backwards as the guy landed and the ground came closer, unsure of how to land otherwise with Kyle wrapped on me. I felt the bump as we hit the sandy dirt, my black wings wrapped around my brother.
"Are you okay?" a boy in black asked, offering a hand to me.
"Yeah ... I'm fine. I think my little brother scraped a leg though. Can you help me get him to a first-aid kit and a person not dressed like a scientist to heal her up?" I responded, seeing blood running from one of his legs intertwined with one of mine.
The messenger guy picked my brother up while the boy offered his hand to me. I accepted, standing up and started to walk.(Mind you, the word was started.) After a step, I collapsed from the pain shooting up from my ankle and the pain coursing from my back and wings. The boy picked me up and followed the man holding my brother. I fell asleep quickly as the boy lied me besides my brother.
Finn was nine. I was eight. Kyle was seven. The three of us were playing, a treat for the youngest 'experiments' and the kids of the scientists. We were standing with four others. A nine-year old named Freddy, her little brother and her little sister, eight-year old Shadow and seven-year old Steven, as well as a eight-year old daughter to a scientist named Lillian. The brothers+sister were 'experiments on loan' from a different group of scientists. The seven of us played with a light, transparent-orange beach ball. We threw it to one another, jumping to throw it. The catcher had to jump, catch the ball, and throw the ball without their feet touching the ground. Sometimes, one of us would throw it in the air because we couldn't catch and throw on the same jump, so we landed while it was in the air, passing it to someone else once we jumped a second time. Lillian's father came in with two other scientists.
"Lillian, Shadow, Steven, Freddy. It's time to go," Lillian's father demanded.
"I don't want to go, daddy. I finally made friends with kids my age, plus one younger and one older than my age," Lillian responded.
"Lillian, don't make me give you to the others to become an experiment. The men are just waiting to get their hands on you. That brings me to a minor point. You are a scientist's daughter, which lets you live off of my income. Your friends are all orphans, paying for their keep by fighting with other orphans and being guinea pigs for others in the same profession as I. Three of your so called friends aren't even here all the time. They were on loan by one of the scientists besides me. The other is here to take the girl for her next experiment. Just leave them and forget they ever existed in your life," Lillian's father explained, grabbing Lillian's arm and dragging her out afterwards.
Shadow, Steven and Freddy followed, trudging their feet in the dirt. The scientist here for Moonfire walked forward with a rope and some chains. Everyone else was brought in as well while the man tied the rope on Moonfire.
That was the last time any of my family saw the outside. That was the last time we got to see Lillian, Freddy, Steven and Shadow. That was the last time any of us had fun.
I woke up, next to my sleeping brother during a moment of hustle and bustle, with an aching back and an aching ankle. I slowly moved away from him, spreading my wings and twitching my tail. I flew until I could see the entire camp. We were in a hilly area of England, grassy yet surrounded by buildings.
"Sister? Can you come down?" my brother Kyle yelled up to me.
I flew down, hovering above ground to not land on my ankle. I hugged Kyle, tears flying.
"I see that your wings are well. Tell me, which species of cat did they inject to get that sort of healing power and that color tail and ears?" the messenger greeted us.
"If you're so curious for the sake of your circus group, then fine. They said that the DNAs were from a strawberry-blonde sand panther and a raven," I responded, unhappy because of my memory dream.
The messenger gasped, dialing someone on his phone quickly.
"Sir ... Project 13, our first stop for the Mew Mews, is the panther-raven crossbreed we were looking for. The other may be our next stop before London proper, the arctic fox-dove crossbreed," the guy said to the person on the phone. "... Yes, sir, understood. Goodbye, sir, see you then."
The guy hung up.
"Mew ... Mews?" Kyle asked.
"Yes. My name is Simon. I'm the leader of the England Mew Mews. The original group was in Tokyo, so their names were the Tokyo Mew Mews. My Japanese friend in that group is named Berry. I'm not sure which cat species and which bunny species it was, but two endangered species infused within her when she accidentally bumped into a machine. You have been chosen to represent this country as a Mew Mew. While Demons, Angels, Reapers, and humans run rampant to commit and stop crime, you will be protecting them all from aliens. When the Mew Mews started having more attacks by the aliens and more endangered species existed, they started spreading the group out to other countries. We are looking for the last endangered species cross-breeds that were stolen from the machine in London and brought to evil scientists. The last one stolen may be with that last group. If it isn't ... then we have to alert the other Mew Mews to be on the lookout. We use the circus to hide the fact that everyone is truly supernatural. We even have a demon, an angel, and a reaper with us, even though they fight each other a lot. Anyway. It's almost time to pick up the boy and his siblings. I will talk to you then," Simon-the messenger-explained.
I nodded, landing softly on the ground with my non-aching ankle.
