Smart glanced at me as did 99, his partner. "Really, Siegfried?" asked 99. "You have a child on board during a top secret mission?"
I flicked out my pistol and she shut up.
As Father explained his plan to ambush the battleship above, I warily watched the CONTROL agents. I'd heard that 99 was a wild one, wily and hard to corner. I'd heard that Maxwell Smart was a bumbling idiot who somehow had defeated my father multiple times.
I'd learned not to snicker when he related his first defeat after he'd chased me around the house like a madman.
Suddenly there was a loud bang and the floor rocked beneath our feet. I fell onto the hard metal floor and sprained my wrist. I swore under my breath, but a sprained wrist was the least of my worries.
If one of those charges hit us we'd be crushed by a vacuum of water and honestly I would preferred not to die at 14 years old.
86 and 99 began to reason with the men. I knew that they wouldn't mutiny, but I was still nervous. If there was a mutiny I would either be killed or forced to help kill my father and, short-tempered as he was I cared for him.
Father regained control of the men and forced the CONTROL agents into the torpedo room.
I followed. This wasn't that boring after all.
