Sam smiled his cute, missing-my-front-teeth smile. I giggled happily, and threw the water balloon at him; it exploded at his knees, drenching him. “Hey!”, he said, picking up a water balloon for himself and hurling it at me. We fell into the soft green grass, doubling over with laughter. The sun shown through the big oaks in his front yard, and a soft breeze swept over our faces. It was a cool summer day, the sky was bright, with puffs of clouds scattered among the sea of blue. We sat in silence, thinking of nothing particular. I never knew I would miss these days so much.
Present————————————————————————————————————————————————————
The lockers shut with a bang around us. It was a normal day in our high school. I heaved my books up, and headed to my next class-Algebra 2. Sam joined me on the steps, chattering away. We were Juniors now, and all ‘grown up’. I coughed, and continued to walk with him. Today, I had felt a bit sick to my stomach and now my throat was starting to hurt. We reached the classroom, and we set our books down together on a desk with a bang. It was very sunny outside-the sunlight streaming through the cheap blinds that dangled from the windows, and the fluorescent lights beamed brightly. All of a sudden, a wave of sickness came over me. Overwhelming me. I sank to the ground, trying to steady my breathing, that was increasing rapidly each second. I could hear noises in the distance, people crowding around me, closer, then, everything went dark. I opened my eyes slowly, feeling sleepy. I was in a white room. However, everything was blurry,as if there were no boundaries. ‘Where was I?’, I thought, terrified. Suddenly,as if I was in a different body, I could see myself. I was as pale as a sheet of paper and shaking like a leaf. I jumped, when I saw a ghostly figure step out at me. I gasped, sucking in quietly, and as discreetly as possible. “You have less than a week.”, the figure said quietly. “Wh..what are you talking about?”, I stuttered, trying to gain confidence. “This is a warning. Everything is about to change.”,it continued to say, floating a few inches off the translucent ground. “What are you talking about?”, I repeated, gaining some confidence. “Keep your friends closeeeeeeeeeeee….”, its voice trailed off into whispers. I closed my eyes quickly, blinking, and when I opened them again, I saw a cluster of students surrounding me. What had just happened?!
