Every Friday Janice and I made it tradition to go for ice-cream, we had the usual flavours walked on the same path and talked about similar things.
It made me happy, every Friday I watched her smile after a week of dull looks and stressful work, it was my reset button...
A cute, girly ringtone rang, I watched quietly as Janice dug into her bag to retrieve her phone. "...h-Hello...."
Her voice was more quiet when she talked over the phone, I believe it's because it's like talking to air?
"Sure...Thanks mum..."
She hung up the phone and faced me,       " I need to drop by the mall"
As Janice began to walk away I got ahold of her shoulder, " I'll come too! I mean, you can't carry everything on your own, right?" I pushed past her and raced ahead, my long legs allowed me to cover more ground...Janice's stride was short for someone so tall but she caught up quickly.
Flashing a small, gentle smile she giggled, "race you!"
I laughed when she dashed off, "I'll win"

Layer #4 has been peeled, 3 more to go!

Carrying her bags, we slowly made it to the clothes store, I won the race and was continuously boasting about, Janice pushed me, telling me I was too cocky, " whatever, I'll win next time!"

When we made it to the store someone called her name, I watched Janice's, expression loose it's usual composure...Her pupils dilated in horror as she gaped at a small group of girls, "I....I-I..."
The girls laughed, their ring leader speaking in a disgusting tone, " Still a little coward, I see" i spotted Janice's hands, trembling with Anger and fear, I wanted to hold them, to comfort her... The leader eyed me up and down, " A boyfriend?" She continued to stare at me in such a way it was emasculating, like how a rabbit would feel being prey to a hungry wolf, " He's Hot, too hot, maybe I could steal him from you?"

The BITCH approached me, placing her hands on my chest, stepping to her tiptoes to try and kiss me. All I could see in that moment was Janice's, mortified face.

I covered my attackers' mouth with my hands, "Back off!"
I pushed her away, she smirked, "Has she told you of us?" She giggled, backing off to her posy. "Nice to meet you! I'm Elisabeth Cross...But you can call me, Elise!"

Elise made her way to Janice, "Too bad you moved, you were such a great...Friend? No...PET!" Elise caressed Janice's jaw, angling her head in such a way that pissed me off.

A single tear fell down Janice cheek, these people...What did they do to her? In a trail of flame Janice ran as fast as she could, leaving me a her groceries behind, "Janice!" I picked up the bags and began to sprint after her, I heard to group complain as I distanced myself from them.
I caught up to Janice, she was always quick to run out of breath...But when I met with her she was the same as always...Cold...
Janice snatched the groceries and thanked me for helping, as she walked away she whispered to herself, "I hoped to forget you..." What's that supposed to mean?
Great! Thanks to those bitches I'm back to (square) peel 1...

I slugged to the front of he classroom, last night consisted of lack of sleep and thoughts of Janice...I couldn't stop thinking about the girl who intrigued me for whatever reason...The girl who was strict and unforgiving, the girl who ignored everyone but for whatever reason became friends with me...the girl who has trust issues with a personality like an onion...The girl who is smart, beautiful and obedient...he girl who...I think...never mind! It isn't important!
I just have to think about the class trip to Japan! Fortunately, I was allowed to go...and Janice was going too!

On the board I wrote the answer to the equation...except I got it wrong and was scolded...I sat back in my seat and watched as Janice outsmarted me once more...Geez! Long division is sooo hard! I haven't done it since year 5...now we have to revise it...And this year it's with decimals!!!
I drew on my book, I was a terrible artist but it was so satisfying to average stick figures having little stick wars...
Pew pew pew!
I laughed at my own immaturity, I was such a kid....
The bell rang and the teacher dismissed us. I packed up everything and caught up to Janice, "Jan-Jan! Can I eat with you again?"
She didn't react to my pet name but instead she just nodded.
"right! Words are too overrated anyway!" I joked, she never changed expression, coldly exchanging glares with the ground.
It feels like I defeated a really hard boss after hours of video games, only to have my annoying brother pull the plug and force me to restart the whole thing...

It was distant, all I could remember about level 4 is the cheerful smiles, like a sunny day when all the flowers have bloomed...
I want it know what she is thinking about...why is Janice going back to step 1? It's their fault! I know it is!
I wanted to heal the silence, so I began talk about the book Janice recommended last week, "I'm only on chapter 3 but I really love it so far!" I paused, waiting for a double sided conversation, but only received awkward eye contact, " there are a lot of big words, it's hard to understand sometimes! My favourite part was when Damon went back in time and created a paradox!"

I laughed nervously, returning to my lunch, this isn't going anywhere...

" I liked that part, too"
I was shocked and happy to hear her again, I'm happy to continue level 1...it's satisfying to unlock the next level...maybe unlocking level 1 will be harder this time...I hope it is...

Oh, and about Janice...I think...that I wanna be...

Her bestfriend like Aidan and I...
