"I'm not special."
"What makes you say that?" The other boy said turning to look at him, "You're pretty special, to me at least."
Jamie felt a little yellow at those words, the smile on his face proved it, but it quickly went away as he began to explain why he felt this way. "The fact that there's someone else on this planet that has the exact same name that I do, the fact that there's someone on this planet that can do everything I can do, heck, they might even be better. And that's not all, I once read that there are people who can even look like you- not an exact copy but like a-" Jamie stopped when he couldn't remember the word.
"Doppelgänger?" Aiden asked, his eyes were filled with orange-green, Jamie guessed he didn't understand.
"Yeah that." Jamie said as he turned his attention back to the ceiling. "Like, we might not live in the same present, maybe they were born in the past, maybe they will be born later on but the point is that these people exist no matter what. So if there's someone who looks like you, someone who can do everything you can, someone who has the same name as you, what makes you so special? What differs you from them?"
"I never thought about that." Aiden said sitting up and scratching his head. Jamie felt yellow at the sight.
He sighed and suddenly the yellow feeling faded, "But someone else probably did. I'm not the only one who thinks this way, Aiden. Which is why I'm not special."
His friend was about to respond but the knock on the door beat him to it. "Jamie are you in there?" It was his mother.
Aiden looked kind of red but Jamie ignored it, he hated when his parents came into his room, Aiden didn't like being around other people. He only liked being around Jamie. His best friend went to go hide in the closet, so nobody else could see him, and he quickly shut the door so Jamie could answer his mother.
Once the door was opened his mother smiled, but she looked worried, "What were you doing?"
"Talking to Aiden," Once those words left his mouth he immediately regretted it. His mother frowned and gently placed her hands on his shoulders. He prepared himself for what she was going to say.
"Jamie, Aiden is not real," his mother said, she was clearly upset. Jamie sighed, she's said this about a hundred times ever since she found out about Aiden.
"Why don't you believe me?" He answered, shaking his shoulders to show his mother his discomfort. He wanted her to leave, when she left Aiden would come back. Jamie wanted Aiden to comeback, "Please, leave me alone right now." He said, "I feel red right now..."
She looked confused at the gibberish that only Aiden seemed to understand, "I feel angry right now." He clarified.
"Jamie, I'm only telling you what I know you need to hear," She said, trying to get him to understand her. He didn't want to understand, he wanted her to leave. So he asked again, but quieter, with more plea in his voice. "Mom, please."
His mother hesitated a minute or two before releasing the hold she had on his shoulders and putting her hand on the doorknob, "Tell... Aiden that you have to go see Dr. Prescott. We're leaving in 10." She sighed before leaving the room. Once the door was shut Aiden popped his head out of the closet. "You okay dude?"
Jamie stayed quiet for a second, trying to gather his feelings. "I feel kinda- I don't know the word..."
"Purple?"
