Ever since it all started I hadn't been alone, James was always with me. Never had I been without my blonde haired, sarcastic, smirking companion. I missed him the second I couldn't find him. I didn't like being alone, especially now.  As I ran I looked around hoping I might spot him, but I didn't. I cant tell you how much more scared I felt when I was alone, Moaners were chasing me, I was running for my life and yeah I would have been scared but now I was so scared I can't even describe it. Its like your worst nightmare, the one that makes you sit up straight in your bed when you wake and your sweating and crying.... And the fear just has taken over you body, you cant move or think or do anything. That's how this was, but times a hundred.

I ran for about ten or fifteen more minutes before I could stop, I had finally lost them. I was tired, scared and just wanted James to be by my side. I had no idea what to do I wanted to go back and find him but the sun going down quickly changed my mind. I kept walking and made my way back to the road. Then a breath of relief, I saw the house. Out it the middle of the woods, over looking a lake.  A two story house with a farmers porch all the way around it. The sun was setting on the horizon of the trees on the lake. It was very beautiful. Their car wasn't there, which means neither were my grandparents. I walked down there long drive way and up the steps to the farmers porch. The door was locked, which I though was a good sign. I took the Hide-a-key out from under the doormat. I unlocked the door and put the key in my backpack. I closed and locked the door behind me. I walked in with my sword ready just in case. I decided if there was any moaners I want too know now instead of later.  I yelled in the house "Hello"!. I knew it would attracted any moaners in the house. But the house was silent. I sighed in relief.

I went to the room they had for me (since I spent a lot of time there). I walked in and went to the closet. They had a bunch of clothes for me here too. I changed into another pair of warmer, thicker jeans, a long sleeve black V-neck shirt. I took off my earrings but kept my collar on. I left my boots off, and locked my bedroom door. Then I got into the bed and fell asleep.                                                                   I woke up early, the sun was rising. I stared at the ceiling and with a deep breath got up. I put my black leather combat boots on a zipped up the sides. I took my leather jacket off the chair and put it over my arm and walked down stairs. I put my holster on my belt and put then jacket by my back pack.  I then went looking in the cupboard, I found a can of peaches and some crackers. I looked at the date on the crackers and they still had a few months to go. I smirked slightly and took a fork, peaches and crackers upstairs. I opened the window in my room and climbed out onto the roof of the farmers porch. It over looked the sunrise on the water. I smiled at the view. I opened the peaches and ate some along with crackers.

I finished my food and after a while of just sitting there watching the sun go over the horizon, I went back inside. I thought about it and decided this would be where I would stay. At least for as long as I could. There was food, my room, clothes, water (from the lake), and a fire place to boil it on. I started to prepare this as my home. I took a rope and tied paint cans, soda cans,  soup and fruit cans to it. I strung the rope around a few feet away from the porch. So I would know if any were coming. Then I took another rope and strung it on the entrances to the porch. (there were only two). So if a moaner tried to get in they'd get stuck. Humans are smart enough to get around the traps but its not humans I'm worried about. Then I took two buckets and went down to the dock on the shore of the lake. I filled my buckets and walked back to the house one in each hand, careful not too spill.

Once back to the house I made a fire in the fire place using a lighter in the house. Then I poured the water from the buckets into three metal pots. I put them on the stove and boiled them. By this time it was about sunset. I ate some more crackers as I waited for the water to boil. Once it boiled I took it off the fire and waited for it to cool a little and then poured the water into bottles. It made about seven bottles. It would have made eight but I drank one.  After all that I took off my boots and holster, setting my knife on the bedside table. I got in bed and thought: 'its a start, maybe I can survive' And with that I fell asleep.
