Chapter Fourteen

" If I could hold back the rain, would you numb the pain?
'Cause I remember everything.
If I could help you forget, would you take my regrets?

" Honestly Lauren, how can I trust you? How do I know you aren't going to jump up and leave me again?" Jeremy looked me dead in the eyes as he spoke to me... I felt ashamed, but at the same time, frustrated that he couldn't see all the effort I've put in to get him back. I took slow, tedious breaths while contemplating my words and his feelings.

"Jeremy, I made a mistake. Okay, I fucked up. I know that. I'm trying to fix this, to fix us. I need you more than I ever realized. That's why I came back; I was such a fool. I let myself destroy the good things I had. You make me happy and I'm lost without you... Nothing can replace your laughter, or the soft strum of your voice when speak to me quietly. You've taken my heart captive, and I ran away out of fear but I'm here, to surrender to you completely."

He said nothing. For once, I couldn't read his face or how he was feeling because I was so overwhelmed with how I felt. His cold distance gave me the impression of rejection, so I slowly turned and let an "I'm sorry" slip from my lips before attempting to walk away. The silence was torturing me from the inside out. As I was about to leave forever, I felt that warm hand of his that I knew too well, and then his fingers slowly wrapped around my wrist, and crept down over my palm and went between my own fingers. He spun me around and rested his other hand over the curve of my hip. "Do you ever think I'd let you walk out of my life like that again?" He asked rhetorically before pulling me into a breathtaking kiss.

"That last moment there was a little questionable," I chuckled. "Look, I really am sorry Jer... I love you more than anything in this universe and I get it now. I'm not going anywhere as long as that's what you want."

"I know babe. I don't plan on letting you leave me again. You're stuck with me."
