chapter 5: apart from home (ashley cortez)

hey i'm ashley, and usually me and my twin (evelyn) and i are usually always together but for this one thing we were apart.

I never liked not being with my twin. She was my Best friend after all. but there were times that no matter what we had to be alone and away from one another. see i won a school trip and what not so i got sent to the mother land. MEXICO!!! but sadly my sister was left at home. sure i had other friends but none of them were as close to me as my sister was. but oh well, i guess i have to spend this time with them right? i was with this girl (Vanessa something or other) we were the more bored people on the trip. here's how it went down.

(time: may 12, 2015. location: Cancun Mexico)

"hey, whats up nessa?" i asked. it was a really boring trip. sure i knew spanish well but there was nothing to do here.

"oh nothing much just reading stuff on the internet." she replied.

"oh ok," i was really bored and i wanted to do something with her. i looked around the room trying to find the perfect thing to do. then it hit me. "wanna go swimming?"

"ummmm................ sure!" she replied "honestly i was just about to ask you that."

"oooooh i guess i can read your mind" i said laughing. which was weird cause i didn't even like to go swimming.

"ok let me just get my swim suit on and you should go change into some swimming wear." she ordered.

"i actually forgot to pack a swimsuit." i replied. like i said i didn't like to go swimming and i was already a pretty shade of tan so i didn't need to go tanning. so i just brought some tank tops and like super short shorts.

"lucky for you i brought two." she said.

"thanks your a life saver" i replied.

i got changed quickly so that i could go swimming. i put on a big white shirt that i packed. and i tied a scarf on my waist.i looked really cute if i do say so myself. but sadly i couldn't go swimming. seeing as how as soon as i stepped outside it all went white.

I woke up to an awful lot of fracken noise. i got up and saw leaves. then out of nowhere i saw it. a branch flying towards me. i got scared and i put up my hands, i didn't know what that would do but it looked like it helped. i looked up and saw the thing just there in mid air.

"woah." i said. then i heard it.

"ENOUGH!!" someone (sounded like a girl) shouted. then another light but this one was short and not as white.i looked i the area from where it came from and ran there. You know to see if anyone got hurt.

"Why did she do that," I heard "I was only trying to save her."

That's when I stopped dead in my tracks. I looked around and no one was there

"Ugh. I knew she was bad news! Why is it always the pretty ones?!" Another voice said

"Why did I stop two cute guys that where fighting over me?" Said a girl voice. But that's when I realized something. The vices weren't outside but inside!

"Ok," I thought "how do I get there fast enough? Wait a minute I stopped a branch with my mind! What if I can pick myself up and use that to take me there too!?"

I just thought of a hand grabbing me and pulling me up. Then I thought it carrying me all the way to the noise. When I got there everyone looked surprised. There was this boy who had angel wings. But they were metal! And another boy who looked like he walked through a burning building. And a girl who was pretty but she was drenched (in what I hope wasn't sweat but water).

"Who are you all?" I asked.

"Who are you?" Asked fire boy (I think it was a good name for now) "you just flew in here, did you do this to us?" He looked like he was gonna throw a punch and that's when angel man intervened

"Hold on avatar (okay that was a little better) before you start throwing fire just chill." Said Angel man

The girl finally spoke up, " I'm Kendra, I was with my brother when this whit light hit me and then I woke up here." She said. I saw rage leave fire boys eyes.

"I'm sorry I thought I was the only one." He said "I'm Elijah buy everyone calls me Eli, I was with my whole family when this all happened, I woke up not to far from here." He sounded scared and worried but he had this leader aspect to him.

"I'm Marco", said Angel boy "I was with my old man when it happened. I woke up about half a mile front here."

"I'm Ashley," I told them "I woke up about 5 min from here" I said.

" there's more people." Said Marco "they were kids like us. We have to help them."

"We should just wait for them to wake up." Said Kendra "we don't know what's out there."

"Wait," I said "did you guys wake up different? Like could you do things you couldn't before?"

"What?" Eli said "like this?" And with that his hands Burst into flames and he flew up. When he let is fire die stared to fall. I was gonna catch him when a gust of wind lifted him up. Then water surrounded him and the ground shot up beneath him.

"Show off!" Shouted Marco. He jumped up and took off as soon as he got up his wings disappeared and he did too, he turned into a hawk and then he came back down. As soon as he touched ground he tuned into a wolf.

"Boys" Kendra said rolling her eyes.

" what can you do" I asked

"This." She said as she made a ball of light and shot it at the boys.

"Cool." Then I noticed they all were looking at me. "I can read minds and I can move things with my mind."

They all got red. "Oh but I can't hear anything at times."

And that's when I heard it. My voice screaming. But it wasn't me.

It was my twin. Evelyn.
