Brand New (Connor McDavid)

Chapter 1

And so it begins.

I had moved out to Edmonton with Connor. I was so happy he was starting in the NHL so soon.

Training camp was starting in a few days so Connor and I came to Edmonton a lot earlier so we could settle in and explore the city before hand.

It was going to be tough for him to fit in with the team, being that he's only 18. But I have so much faith in him.

We sat on the couch that had just arrived, the plastic still on it.

"Have you talked to anyone on the team yet?" I asked.

"No, but I'm planning on spending the next couple of days with you before I get too focused on the team."

I smiled at that. "You're something Connor." I rested my head on his shoulder just before my phone started ringing.

Unknown number it read.

I looked at Connor and hesitated to pick it up but I did.

"Hello?"

"Oh hi, can I speak to Courtney?"

"Speaking."

"I'm Justin Bieber." My hear sunk when he said that. "My manager told me to give you a call because you're a really good dancer and can learn really fast." He stated. "Well I'm going on tour soon and one of my dancer can't do it so I was wondering if you would want to come out to LA in a couple of weeks to tryout for the position. Usually my manager makes these calls but I wanted to call you myself."

"Wow. That's, uhm..." He stopped me.

"You don't have to give me an answer right away. I'll send you my number and you can tell me your decision whenever you have one."

"Oh I will thank you so much."

"I'll talk to you soon!"

"Of course!" And we hung up.

"What was that about."

"You know how Justin Bieber is going on tour in a couple of months?"

"Yeah...?"

"Well he offered me to tryout as one of his dancers."

"That's amazing!" Connor said with such a big smile on his face.

"But I would leave to LA in two weeks."

"That's just after preseason starts." He seemed a little disappointed.

"I don't know what to do."

"Court, you know this is such a great opportunity for you to get yourself known in such a big way. Why not? I don't want to influence your decision on this. I want you to be happy with what you do and not let me pull you back."

"But Con..."

"No buts, I know you want to do this, so go."

"You know I love you right?"

"I love you too." He said putting his arms around me and I laid my head on his shoulders again.

Connor and I were so young but everything we had just fell together so well. That's one of the reasons why it was so easy for me to move out to Edmonton with him.

I still wanted to take a little time to think about my decision. It was a dream to go on tour with someone, but with Justin Bieber just makes it even more special. I really just wanted to make sure I wanted to do it and if it would be worth being away from Connor for so long.
