|Ellys POV|

"EL, WAKE UP."

I groaned as I opened one of my eyes, blinded instantly by the morning sun.

I pulled the duvet over me and tried to go back to sleep. Eventually I gave up trying, knowing that there is no way in hell my mum would leave me be.

"Mum, why the fuck are you waking me up? It's summer." I shouted, my morning voice raspy and uncontrollable.

"ELIZABETH ANNE BAKER I HAVE TOLD YOU COUNTLESS TIMES THAT SCHOOL STARTS ON THE 27th!”

I sat up in my bed as I tried to rub the sleep out of my eyes.

"SO?" I asked while starting to lie back down again. My mum stormed into my room, calendar in hand.

"What day is it today?" she asked, thrusting the calendar into my hands.

I tried counting the scribbled crosses on the calendar in my head until I gave up and skipped to the last one. 27th. Today is the 27th of August. The single word 'SCHOOL' is written and underlined beneath the number.

"Shit." I muttered under my breath. My mother shot me a look before walking out my door and shouting "GOING OUT, MAKE YOUR OWN BREAKFAST."

I swung both legs out of my bed, curling my toes into the beige carpet. I stood up and looked around my room.

I liked my room.

There is a dark purple bean bag in the right hand corner tucked in next to my bookshelf. Next to that is a black lamp dotted with fairy lights, there is a full body mirror next to it. On it my friends, Ronnie and Maddi, have written random things. There are also a couple pictures lodged into the edges. There is one of me and my family at Disney land on our holiday to America, a few of me and the girls taking silly selfies and one of me when I was 5. I fiddled with the curled corners of that one, smiling at my previous innocence.

On the other side of the room I had a white desk which is conjoined to another smaller mirror. This one isn't as special as the other one is, it didn't have anything but finger prints on it. On the desk is my iPhone, plugged into the wall, my laptop and a huge amount of makeup. Next to the desk is my black and white CD player.

My bed is pressed up against the farthest white wall. It is black, dirty and unmade. I went to my closet and kicked my school uniform before realizing that I didn't need to wear it anymore.

I, Elizabeth Baker, am now in the sixth form. I grinned at the thought. I threw my ugly grey uniform out of my closet and delved deep into my clothes. As I sorted through my clothes I groaned at all the clothing rules I had to follow.

• No Bare Shoulders

• No Denim

• No Hemline above Fingertips

• No Spaghetti Straps

• No Bare Midriff

So basically, no dressing lithe way normal people do.
