Chapter 27-A house of demon

Sepulchur's POV

"Have you heard? That scoundrel Mard Geer is defeated by Fairy Tail."

"Now that Tartaros is out of our way, it's just a matter of time before we reunite with Lord Zeref."

I walked down the pathway to the training ground after the meeting, still processing the mission personally appointed by the supreme demon Yan.

"Keep an eye on Fairy Tail. Report to me every week." I can't shake the uneasiness about this. Among us eight of Knights of Deimos, he only appointed me. That leads to only one possibility. They still have some reservation about me.

Sound of men cheering and howling gets louder as I walk down the hallway. Guess another battle of the strongest came up.

The other trainees formed a small circle surrounding the two fighters. By the time I got there, one of them is already eating dirt.He has a muscular body and a tiger tattoo on his exposed shoulder all the way to his arm.

When you are strong, there's always someone who is stronger than you. Demon from a underworld gang like you should know that.

I averted my gaze from the half-dead demon trainee, until I found a shadow in the middle of the surrounding crowd. My eyes widen in surprise.

A human?

This is interesting. A seventeen year old human with an average body with little muscles beating a demon to half-conscious has never been heard of.

There he stood. In front of the other demons. Slightly panting and one hand holding onto the bleeding arm. A sword staining with fresh dark red blood lying beside him.

This kid is talented. He definitely will be one of the best soldier in the organization.

He walked towards his opponent, eyes looking distanced. His fist suddenly stopped midway, mere a few inches from his target's critical point.

He hesitated.

Noticing that people were still watching, he quickly composed himself and ended the brawl with a hit on the abdomen knocking him unconscious.

What a shame. Part of him is still a human afterall. This place is full of blood thirsty demons and monsters, not a place for humans.

My red armor clanked as I walked towards the young lad, unintentionally alerting the other soldiers, the ruckus slowly died down.

"Well fought." Some newbies startled at my low, deep likely abnormal voice.

"Thank you, sir!" He saluted. His eyes flashed with pride, but not for long. I could feel his eyes widened and stared on my hand, as it was holding out for the particular tag on his shoulder and upper chest. I teared them down, practically took away his dream right in front of him.

If stares of enmity could hurt, I must've been dead right now.

"Soldier number 001,from today onward you are no longer belong to the 7th Division. If you have no other reason to stay, please leave immediately."

His face turned pale, even his hands started to shake. Horrified, he asked. "W-Why? I-I can explain!"

I scoffed. "Explain? Explain about how you couldn't bring yourself to kill your enemy?"

He stood there, head held low, unable to find his word. I guess he finally know his place.  "LISTEN UP!" Everyone turned their attention to me.

"There's no such thing as mercy in battlefield! The moment you hesitate will be the moment you put yourself on deathbed!"

"I don't care how and why you came here, or who did you work under before you came to my division. Now you work for me. This is my division. My team. My rules. If you can't accept that, get out of my sight immediately!" I took a glance at the lateral building, before quickly averting my gaze to the young man without any trace.

"Leave. Now."

Tell me, what do you think about demons? Are they cruel? Savage?  Or are they just a bunch of monsters which Zeref created to kill himself?  What is that you wanted to seek in this place? Power, pride or is it something else?

***

The Knights of Diemos. That is what we call ourselves. A demon guild, ruled by group of Etherious from the book of Zeref, since the X300's. Since the found of organization, demons have always dominate the important ranks even though there are member from other races. They don't trust any other race other than themselves - a hidden rule if you really want to put it that way.

But that rule broke because of my appearance.

I continued walking down the hallway until an expected figure entered my sight. The troublesome one has been sent away and here comes the annoying one. She must have known I would come for her.

"My my if it isn't Sepulchur the Demon Captain."

"Says the real demon in the house."

Her flirtatious laughter echoed in the hallway. "Quite a humorous man we have here!"

"Cut it off, Thalia." I cut off her. "I suppose you had a good time sight-seeing in my division?" I glared straight into her eyes.

Demons are considered as the upper class and their command is absolute hence talking back or any offending behavior will only lead to punishment.

Yeah. Right. Like I care.

She faked a surprised shriek. "Oh no you got it all wrong! I happened to pass by your division and just decided to check on my dear comrade~" She was caught off guard as I grabbed her wrist and trapped her against the wall. "Enough for the play, Thalia."

She laughed silently, her eyes reveals her sinister profile. I watched as her lips curled into a seductive smile. "Careful, someone may get the wrong idea with this position."

Man, can this she-devil be more annoying?

I tightened my grip on her wrist. "Don't blame me if next time you are here to 'check on me', I mistook you as an intruder and 'accidentally' pierced my sword through your heart." Check on me my a** You demons really are a pain in the neck.

You wanna play? Be my guest.

"Are you satisfied now? Now that we know he's not a wolf in sheep's clothing. "

"Come back immediately."

Thalia snickered. "Yan's orders, or is it yours?"

"......Sepulchur's right. You should have some dignity."

"You guys are no fun at all. Hey Acedia-" Before she could say anything, the telepathy ended.

Moron. Thalia grumbled.
